Help please.

I need ideas for brunch dishes which are quick and easy to knock up for someone who isn't exactly a 'morning person', or which could conceivably be prepared in advance.

The only problem is that these can't contain runny eggs or slimy sauces - I don't like them. Kedgeree isn't an option either since brunch guest (a very fussy girl) won't eat anything 'curried'.

All I can think of is smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, which seems like a cop out.

Any ideas? I'm scratching my head here.

Well, whoever invented 'brunch' should be fking shot, that's all I can say. It's neither fish nor fowl, hence the confusion over what to eat.

'Breakfast', for me, is a cup of coffee and some pineapple. In earlier years, coffee and a red top Marlie. 'Lunch' is either skipped or a slab of bloody meat, with frites.

'Brunch', I really can't get my head around: runny eggs with slimy sauces, or poncy pancakes. A ghastly American invention.

Worst of all, this girl has invited herself, quite insensible to the fact that I really don't 'do' mornings, never mind on Sunday.

I am not amused. irked

Pastries, lots of them. Buy them Saturday and warm them in the oven for 5 minutes before she gets there. A Big pot of coffee and some OJ. Sorted.
