Marshall AVT100 amp/Gibson Explorer, whats it worth?

Hi all,

Looking to free up some money and a friend has expressed an interest in buying my AVT100 off me, i have no idea what its worth or what i paid for it! Can anyone shed any light?

I also have a Gibson Explorer of early '90s vintage that i might, regrettably, have to sell. It has in its life had the headstock repaired which makes valuing it tricky, any idea's?

In that case i'll probably hold onto the guitar for a bit, it has sentimental value and were i to sell it i'd want to get a good price for it.

The amp I'm not so fussed about, probably call it £80 as its a mate and be done with it.

I thought i would revive this... I didn't sell the guitar (the amp went) back in 2012, but it hasn't left its case since so i think the time has come to sell.

Is 2016 a better time to be selling a second hand guitar? My interpretation of the serial number tells me that the guitar was made in '91, so its now 1/4 century old! Not sure if the age makes it more attractive or less. As you can see the guitar has some "patina" and the headstock pic shows the repair that was made before i bought the guitar 12 years or so ago, although i must say the pic makes it look a lot worse!

Ebay? Classifieds? Where is the best place to sell.

Thanks for your reply, reckon i'll stick on a well known internet auction site with a £400 reserve/starting bid then. I wouldn't want to let it go for much less.
