Need help to work out the chords of a song

I get that it starts in E, then Emaj7, then it seems to imply E6, although that doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure he's got the guitar tuned to a chord though I couldn't say which.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the assistance, chaps. I'm not really following 25's suggestions but will continue experimenting with it, Justin's info I was able to do something with, and think I might get somewhere with it.

Maybe even if I don't get it exactly right I can come up with something that works equally well.

Finally got it decoded by a semi-pro acoustic guitarist of my acquaintance. Guitar is tuned DADGAD, capo at the second fret, and it's all done on the 2nd and 3rd strings. Thanks Gill.
