Right,

This is an undeniably maudlin topic primarily precipitated by the fact I'm unlikely to sleep for a while yet due to the excellent thermal insulation of my flat, and from listening to some favourites on Spotify. I'm also off on a massive trip in August and if I end up meeting an untimely end I'd hate to leave my funeral playlist unwritten...

My sole experiences of death (other than in a professional sense) are my gran's cremation and a friend from school who succumbed to Cystic Fibrosis and asked for the Massive Attack track which consists of largely breathing as we walked out, which was massively tearjerking. Breathe easy now, Tom.

None of these are particularly anthemic, but I like them. In order of the ceremony:

This is a Low, Blur. I love it. It's floaty and a bit lovely. It's reminiscent of being in a plane leaving the UK for places unknown. Walking in music. This is a low, but it won't hurt you.

You Do Something to Me, Paul Weller. Well. I've got to have something for people to cry to, haven't i?

Rhythm and Blues Alibi, Gomez: Just because. Possibly after a witty anecdote. I can never get enough of their singer's bark, and he's just as good live.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Ryuchi Sakamoto: an iconic tube which reminds me of Japan. Suitable for the bit when the coffin disappears.

I'd like to have Weather Storm by Craig Armstrong playing as people file out.

And for comedy value 'suicide is painless' by the Manics or 'Forget about me' by Simple Minds would probably work.

Am I bonkers? Anyone else have a list?
