Currently listening to a lot of the following :

Band of Skulls
Jack White
The Dead Weather
Frank Turner
The Clash/Joe Strummer
The Levellers

Need to have a good vocalist and be guitar driven. Prefer smaller bands with an original sound to stadium hounds.

Deap Vally have an all female white stripes kind of sound.
Saw them supporting Jack White and then at their own gig in Oxford. Not to bad.

Dont want to negative, but whilst some of the above is of interest, it really doesnt grab me.

I really need to like the singers voice and the guitar riffs, and most of the above doesnt tick both boxes.

Sorry to be a pain......

Rival sons - good riffs but dont get the vocals

River 68s - mmm, ok but not great

Graveltones - again, abit meh tbh

Bernie torme - getting there but a little bit samey if Im honest

Big fan of The Kills - seen them three times so far.

Cage the elephant caught my attention briefly with a single last year IIRC.

Placebo feel a bit old school and depressing tbh. Used to really like them.

Always thought aLT J was a charty type band ?

Have a listen to Toseland - Renegade - easily my favourite album of the last 12 months or so and they are great live.
Im a tad surprised at this, altho I shouldnt have been I guess.

I watched JT in bike racing and never really warmed to him.

I had heard of his keyboard skills and assumed that was the direction he had gone.

Anyhow, for me, this is all over produced and slightly dated tosh Im sorry to say.

more guitar driven music...

Breaking Benjamin

Three Doors Down

Three Days Grace

Shinedown
Reasonable shout I guess, but again, to, erm , mainstream rock I guess.

Can you see now, why I find it so hard to find new stuff ?

Maybe I should give better examples?

Band of skulls - fairly stripped out sound with melody but bursts of hard guiter/drums
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_E_R8vOMnA

Jack white - raw again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiEoxktOoHg

The Dead weather - hard to define, but I love it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYDhw8_lAn0

Frank Turner - energetic and realistic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB4Avdlz3lk

Im not saying any of these are any sort of definitive favourite, but the overall feel is waht I like about them all.

Does this help ?

Interesting K, as you , a long time ago, recommended Million Dollar Reload to me, and they are one of my favourite bands since.

Ive not invested huge time in them, but if you say so, then I will research further..

They've just finished a 2-hour live web concert. They just seem to get better and better with age wink

And they are very different to M$R smile
Hmmm, will invest some time in them.

Sadly (or not) currently listenign to Slash & Myles live at Stoke........

Certainly a mix of it. Their overall influences are 60s/70s blues/rock, but with that something extra.
...which is no bad thing....

Ive ordered Snapshot as a start, so Ta again K....

Not M$R tho...... I likes THAT stuff.....
