Is anyone else totally appalled by the cheapening of music like this?

I can’t believe that the memory of a great song is forever tainted. For me, now, whenever I hear ‘another one bites the dust’, in my head will be the horrifying ‘another one drives a Duster.’ Really, how badly can they need more money?

Presumably the people 'wrecking' these songs do so with the permission of the rights holders? It's their song, not ours.

That is my point really. Have the writers no shame? I am sure there is really good money to be made in this way, but what of dignity and musical integrity?

Totally with you on Mariah and 'Without You'! Actually that whole genre of 'olympic gymnastics' style if singing makes me feel like I am being attacked by a wasp!

You hold music in high esteem.

Why? It's not the meaning of life, it's only music.

You'll be saying you like tennis next...hehe
Yes, you're right, I do hold music in high esteem. It is what I do for a living, every night I perform 3 hours of covers, solo, in a crowded English pub venue on a cruise ship. I have been going this 20 yeas now, and I suppose I have performed some songs thousands of times, and some of them take on a real meaning in my life. I feel that to do my job well I have to be sincere about what I am doing. That is why 'another one drives a duster' has really rather embarrassed me, as an entertainer. If I had the original in my repetoire, I would have dropped it for sure!

Oh, and I do quite like tennis!

I quite like the advert.

The advertisers do too. The fact that every time you hear Queen, you think of Dacia proves they've managed to get it right.

Anyways, it's not like it's the first ad that even puts music and products together forever. Driven by you / Ford. Takes my breath away / incendiary Pugeots. The Ramones / A fking O. That formerly good Fleetwood Mac tune / Marks and fking spencer.

There's far worse things that have happened, lets be honest =)
They have certainly NOT managed to get it right! If I was unfortunate enough to be considering a car in this market, I would rule out a Dacia immediately due to the terrible ad.........

Of course there are far worse things that have happened. Rosberg's move on Sunday, for example......
