Can be standard, or heavily modified, but let's have a look at the 4x4's being used on PH...

I'll start. Pretty much standard except for a diff drop, 1.5" spacer lift, custom transfer case bracket, custom bumper, (by custom, I mean a man welded it for me), and some home made underbody protection. tyres are Insa Turbo Sahara jobbies. It does me thus far.

Love the Vehicross. Had an Amigo myself on the US.

Always had a soft spot for the Vehicross. Does the TOD system behave itself in general?
The TOD system was the same as I had in the Amigo. Vacuum activated transfer case box. I had to use it stopped, as it got crunchy for some reason. All worked fine in lo range despite. I prefer a mechanical lo-range now, though.

Jimny's are very cool. Throw some MT's on, and a very capable machine stock.

Nice picks Zelda.

Yep one of the reasons I chose it. I'm more of a Landy man if I'm honest so I think my driving style will have to change but I've no doubt that its a capable machine.
Very different to a Landy, but I prefer a lighter car to go offroad with. Plus, when you are in a little 4x4, and get stuck, no big deal. get stuck in a landy, and everyone laughs. hehe

Would you not have been better using proper shocks, rather than a bottle of coke? hehe Nice trooper.

Some nice 4x4's here, very nice, makes me all jealous and start thinking of body lifts and MT's

You can get a 3 1/2 inch lift on that! I had one on my Amigo/Frontera Sport. Also a bloody worthwhile addition is lower ratio transfer case gears.

Very jealous of that SJ, how does it perform compared to your Vitara?
Very similar as it happens. I can go anywhere it goes, and vice versa. I do seem to be able to climb steeper slopes with more ease than it, (experienced this yesterday. It seems to bounce a lot more in poor traction so loses what traction it does have. I presume it is because of the leafs, rather than coils?)

Ground clearance wise, although it looks like it has more, the Vitara actually has that, by a fraction. The under body protection on the SJ lowers the clearance by about an inch an a quarter.
