As we might be buying a new house thats at the top of an ungritted hill and then down a farm track im thinking about replacing the other half golf.

She wants a "suv" thats simalar size to her golf ideally 5 door as she has a grandkid now and one that you can get your shopping in. I was thinking of a qashqai 4wd but not a yeti as she doesnot like them.

Budget 5k - 7.5k

Any ideas ?

Means i might get rid of my xtrail and get a swb shogun for shooting and carrying the dogs about

The mk2 golf country is maybe a bit old, looking for up to 7 years or so.

As for the suzuki sx4 the boot is tiny at 270 litres where as the mk5 golf is 350.

A couple of contenders are -
TERIOS but unsure of interior space
MINI COUNTRYMAN, Vauxhall MOKKA, Mitsubitshi ASX all just out of budget
QASHQAI 2.0 2007 vintage

And for me if i get shot of the x-trail as we dont need 2 big cars are - SWB shogun, 3 door grand vitara, 3 door rav4

Any opinions on any ???

Well after much looking about / studying i think one of the following might be best for her -

SUZUKI SX4 4GRIP
TERIOS
QASHQAI

and for my little toy that will go off road shooting / fishing -

3dr GRAND VITARA 1.9 DDIS

Good or bad choices ?

Time for a small update -

Golf R lacks ground clearance ( I owned one for a few months but had to get rid) as it caught on said farm track
x-trail to big for her
Freelander and defender are out

Like I said the x-trail “feels” big for her to drive, but ive told her its all in the mind lol

Still fancying a SX4 for her but then I thought of a juke I know it wont be 4wd as she wants a manual but it has the ground clearence.

So is the juke a good drive ? Even though its at the top of my budget or am I being stupid ?

Maybe means i might be on the look out for a 3dr 4x4 for under 2k

The x-trail is a tekna so has a camera, but its all in her mind and still thinks it too big.

Drove a friends 14 plate Jimny today both on and off road and towing a trailer. It was great off road and i only lost traction once but it is woefully lacking in power on road and towing. Fair enough it was an auto but i could not believe how slow it was.

So i think if i change car it will be a 3dr shogun Di-D
