4x4 voodoo

This 4x4 transmission stuff is all voodoo to me.

If I test a 2002 Grand Vitara, how do I test low range? Do I need to declutch and select when stationary?

Ta. Just viewed a picture. Seems the 2002 one doesn't have a stick selector like the older ones. Did they turn their backs on good old mechanical stuff at that point, in favour of confounded electrickery gubbins?

sure you mean a 2002? Our 2003 GV still had the 2nd stick for the transfer box. IIRC its from 2006(ish) the TC went to electronic shift

My mistake. Viewed a photo, but the stick was out of shot.
