My Wife's Pathfinder is 5 years old and due a change and Nissan no longer import them. Budget is approx £30k but we can stretch that a bit.

She likes chunky and big!
Needs to be diesel and auto

I like the new Forester but I don't think that will be tall enough for her.
She likes the new Jeep Grand Cherokee but a little out of budget
She dislikes Land/Range Rovers
We recently viewed a Izuzi DMax at a country show which she liked the look of. I'm not convinced on a double cab. The Pathfinder was not a plush ride but rode quite well.

Off to a Subaru/Izuzi dealer tomorrow for a wee nosey

Any other suggestions welcome

Just goes to show I will never fully understand my wife!!

Went to the Subaru/Izuzi dealers today and

she fell for the Outback!

We tested the auto diesel and it went well and seemed to fit all her requirements. Trying to justify the petrol £1500 cheaper, bit more power and approx 10mpg less

Just to bring this thread to a close(OK I know it wasnt huge but even so !) We're collecting a new Outback on the 1st September

In my heart I wanted to buy the petrol model, working out the figures the petrol was cheaper to buy, the diesel more frugal and it made very little difference over 3 years at 14000 mile a year. However in a back to back drive the diesel just suited our driving style, more torque and the power lower down and a little more relaxed. The petrol may be quicker higher up the rev range but its a large SUV type vehicle we're buying not a WRX so we've gone diesel.

I was quite taken with BRZ in the showroom for myself so will see if the feeling remains or its just a passing fad
