Land Rover Disco 300tdi complete oil change

Hello folks
I have been researching online for what tools and oils I need to do a oil change on my 300tdi Discovery (manual). I've been on all the Landy forums and have become completely overwhelmed by the conflicting information on what is best.
All I wanted to know is what oils I need and also what tools I need to use.
It would appear that the
- engine needs 6.5ltrs of semi synth 15w 40 (although that has been debatable for universal tractor oil)\
- gearbox and transfer well I have no idea, as there are lots of varying comments on what to use
As for tools again no idea.
This is my first Land Rover and I want to make sure that I have everything I need before I start a job. I'm not new to maintenance, as I've looked after all my previous cars.
