Grand cherokee WJ air con parts
Discussion
I'm having trouble finding a new replacement Receiver/drier for the A/C system for my 2.7crd. My A/C guy says mine is blocked.
Main dealer says they don't sell'em any more. I've found a used one on e-bay for £35, but how they know it works OK to sell on I don't know ???
Any suggestion's chaps ?
Cheers

forget a used one , they work as a drier because they have a desiccant inside and if left open to the air it will become saturated , Try a hella agent or Rock auto they are fantastic for all sorts of oddball stuff
oh and worth trying ECP ,,,
Rock auto only list the petrol engine units. I'll try your other suggestions.oh and worth trying ECP ,,,

I can easily find driers for the 4.0 petrol.
Seems the part number you're after is 55116749AE. I can't see any for sale in the UK other than used ones on ebay.
Might have to order from the US.
Or take it to an aircon specialist. They might be able to hook up some other receiver/drier.
The biggest problem will be that the 2.7 has a different part to the petrol models, and that they don't sell many diesels in the US. So it might be a hard to find part in the US too.

The Mercedes/Fiat ownership thing also makes some engine parts a bit tricky, but not impossible.
I've got a German speaking friend doing a German Google and German E-bay search for me, as these Jeeps were popular on the continent.
Second thoughts turn to getting this unit opened up and refill it with new desiccant if that's feasible ?
My A/C repair man also told me to get a new "block valve" (which is a needle valve I understand?) which sits next to the drier, and that was available from Jeep at £70 notes.

I'd have thought the part will be found on some other vehicles out there.
It would be pretty unlikely that the parts are bespoke for the 2.7 CRD, the only problem being working out what the parts were fitted to!
Its unique to this Jeep because of the attached pipe bends etc.It would be pretty unlikely that the parts are bespoke for the 2.7 CRD, the only problem being working out what the parts were fitted to!
I'm thinking along the lines of getting a generic unit and cutting the old pipes and using compression fittings to attach it.
I'll update you as it progresses. I did turn up some results on Google in far away non English speaking countries, so I'm reluctant to go that route.
