I think that's a fair question actually. Consider the demise of the Defender, the delay of it's replacement, the number of Freelander 2 owners who will walk away from the brand as they find the Discovery Sport is not for them, all showing that Land Rover are walking away from the dirty welly brigade in favour of the green welly lot.

And considering the success of Japanese products in the utility off road market why shouldn't JLR squeeze all they can out of the expensive end of the market.

So I reckon there's a market for it.
Exactly a more capable utilitarian 4x4 in the defender 110 mold and I like the look of it ( small dick obviously )

Yes it's primarily sold in the us but I don't see why that would preclude it from selling here. Is it really that much bigger that a shogun or ranger etc.

As a sweeping generalisation, yes. The 'SUV' market is huge but the market for actual off-road capable passenger vehicles is very small.
Perhaps because there is little choice there is the wrangler and ?

How many shogun buyers would buy something a little more capable?

I suggested Navaro owners purely based on the butch looks FWIW. People clearly like the macho image.
Navara and Rangers all over the place here. I know two ranger owners.

Doesn't look like a diesel option though.

That would make more sense especially with the 2.4 diesel engine

going back a few years , hummers were popular. not very practical or fuel efficient.

to the op , is that a standard vehicle or is it or is it fiited with aftermarket parts ?

i have to admit i do like the look of that , although i have never driven a 4 x 4 or need one.
There are some after market parts on that wheels, snorkel would imagine it's been raised a bit.

Standard ones don't seem to be too different.

Cheers

When I win the lottery I'll import one. I don't imagine a shogun is anywhere near as capable.

I take it the roll bars help off road in some way, wheel articulation?

Yeah that sand control is impressive

I towed a car out of the sand in Spain with the crv. Was touch and go if I was going to get Stuck too. Would have been nice to have this feature.

So
Get a van
And family car
And A smaller off-roader because they are better off road

Etc etc

How about get one that can most everything well. Or even better just buy what you want and don't worry about what other people want or need.

You don't need a car that does over 70 etc why do any of you care what other people want

So one or twice a year I do this I need to get a van do I for a couple times a year?

A pic up or van would be better for 5 days a year but the rest of the year I have two dogs in the back and I don't want them in a pick up bed... every week I got light off-roading just to get to uninhabited areas for the dogs. i also go in sand quite a lot. And travel a few thousand miles 4 up, plus 2 dogs and a fortnights worth of luggage. That vehicle would be perfect

Just because YOU see no reason for it and you are obviously a multi millionaire who can buy multiple vehicles for every single one off job needed through the year, doesn't mean we should all buy what you like or maybe we should because you are obviously the bestest at choosing cars for your needs therefore best at choosing our cars for ours.
