I've just passed what I am 90% sure was a Velar (driving, so no pic) which was fully wrapped in black and white swirly camo.

The question is, why was a car which everyone has now seen in disguise? Had it not been, I for one would have assumed I was mistaken and that it was actually an RRSport. Bloody huge too!

Simple.

If it was just driving around undisguised, Joe Public wouldn't glance twice.
If it's in camo, Joe Public is going to go "Oooh, what's that?" and ask around or google, then say to their mates "Oooh, you wouldn't believe what I was sat behind in traffic this morning". It's a subtle marketing trick - the exact same reason the manufacturers publish teaser pics and the like.
Ah OK, that actually makes sense. Thanks.

And you have to admit that it's worked here, hasn't it?
