I've always quite liked the look of the Frontera, aesthetically that is, but - I've never known anyone who's owned one; I've never driven one and I've never seen one in use off road.

I don't even know whether they have any lockers or even a low range box? (I could probably google this but it's only just occurred to me as I type this)

So, anyone any experience? Any good? Can you buy lift kits and other mods to make them better?

Not really considering one. Just idly wondering if they are an option if I ever get round to getting a weekend-only mud toy.

I guess not!

Look for something with lives axles. Either that or it needs axle lockers and/or a fancy TCS system to simulate lockers.

Suzuki Jimny would be my pick or anything Jeep or Land Rover.
I think a little Suzuki is the obvious choice. I've had my fill of the expense (time and/or money) of LR ownership.

For now though, I'll just have to enjoy the mild, non-damaging off road fun I get to do in my 'shiny'.

Of course, what I really want is an FV432 or a Unimog........scratchchin

Looking at it from a different angle - it could be an interesting challenge to get a Frontera and then, with only minor changes, work within its limitations in off-road scenarios and see what it can do.

(Although the answer could still be 'very little' and very disappointing)
