Unfortunately due to lots of work travel recently I've not had much time to drive it since I got it. If I compare it to the Cayman (which was only a 2.7) the performance, as you would expect, is in another league although the cayman is the better handling car, if only due to the relative lack of mass and where it is located in the car. I expect the Cayman was easier to drive fast, but the 911 is more satisfying as it's more of a challenge.It feels a little like a less powerful version of my old R35 GTR in terms of grip and traction, but with much more feedback and without the odd sensation of power being shunted between all four wheels. It's very rear biased and not too shy about steeping out under a heavy throttle exiting a corner, which is quite exciting! The ride is probably a little too harsh for Dubai roads even in the comfort setting (putting it in sport would result in a trip to the dentists) but I suspect this is the same with all sports cars. The switchable exhaust is a nice touch, being able to quieten it down when needed and not suffer motorway boom is very welcome after owning a secession of very loud Loti that required ear plugs on long journeys.
I need to do a trackday in it before I can really comment properly on the performance and handling, but expect this will have to wait until the summer is over to avoid cooking something expensive.
As a daily driver with at least a hint of practicality that feels special every time I drive it, it works very well. Might just be a keeper...
