Finally I have got around to booking a day in the desert on a motorbike. More accurately a half day, as don't think my fitness is up to a full day at the moment!
Anyone fancy joining me, the booking site is:-

I've booked on the 08:00 half day tour on Saturday 6th Feb 2015
I believe you need a basic understanding of how to ride a bike, and if you have ridden off road even better. However if a competent road rider I am sure you will be fine, I cannot imagine will be too crazy.

Let us know how it was.
I will do.They also do a more basic tour for 2 hours taster session. So you could always do that one day, and the 4 hour after that.
I used to ride Enduro before, and had a KTM450 in UK, so have an idea of how it works, but have never ridden on sand.
Thinking about it - the most difficult thing on an Enduro bike is feeling the gears through the boots, and it does take a bit of getting used to, so the 2 hour session could be good for bike familiarity before doing the 4 hour and actually enjoying yourself.
Well I'm just back from 4 hours with just gas it (called big red now). I ache like fk already!!
Will get some videos up when I get a chance. It was brilliant. I've ridden off road quite a bit in UK and Spain - and am a fairly competent rider. This was so different! So hard. For the first hour I felt like I'd never ridden a bike before.
Lots of falling off, lots of getting stuck, but when it went well it felt like skiing down the side of a mountain when you get the right lines.
Personally and I know this is boring, but if no experience of riding in sand, or no experience of off road riding, do the beginner 2 hours or else I think you will put yourselves off. Nothing wrong with being scared (and I was!) but you want to enjoy as well. They guy there told me that they have lots of competent road and track riders turn up and they have to take them back after 30 mins and give them a voucher for the beginners 2 hours.
The bikes were excellent too. Mine has only done 40 hours - and was immaculate. Note the word was!

So Thanks to RichAR and his late night Dubizzling, I now find myself a few AED lighter in the pocket. Was a good deal, and even though it is not Orange - it is close!
I think we need our own thread for meet ups now. Anyone else fancy taking the plunge and joining us?
I also have a load of bits and bobs that came with the deal, some that I do not require as I brought my own kit from the UK. I know advertising is not allowed and the Dubizzle advert will disappear shortly (http://tnydu.biz/D3fa04) but if you drop me a line with anything you fancy I can let you know if I am keeping or selling.

If this bike is really as advertised - is a bit of a bargain.

Another month or two until back in the dunes - so now is the time to buy if you want one!

Are there any specific forums where you guys arrange to head off to the dunes?
This one !Rich and stuck mojo are away at the moment. End of September we will be out most Friday mornings. I think you are in AD if I remember correctly ?
There are a few guys come up to Dubai to ride from AD, and we will be heading up there too (I've not been yet), but once you get to meet everyone - you will get a ride a week if you want it ? I suggest if you are interested to look at bikes now and also at gear.
The UAE is limited for gear - so we mostly ship it in from UK/USA - and it can take a few weeks.
Drop me a PM if you want more details ?
