The Club Racer Video Thread
Discussion
Thought this might be a bit of fun since quite a lot of us race on here going on previous threads so hows about a thread for our race videos.
Now, I'm not a moderator so people can tell me to GTF, but was thinking only post your videos as they happen, not your entire back catalogue!
Scottish Mini Cooper Cup - Round 5 Race 1

Howler of a start leaving me chasing Craig Noble and Chris Reid for the first few laps. (slight push to get Chris going along railway on one occasion!). Got past them, then chased down Guy Johnston. Good battle with him before catching Hamish Brandon and Steven Clarke fighting on the last lap. They had a coming together coming out the last corner gifting me a couple of places on the run to the line!
Scottish Mini Cooper Cup - Round 5 Race 2

Another poor start with Steven Clarke drawing along side but held the line in to turn one and left him to battle Hamish Brandon. Then it was a dog fight with David Sleigh and Stefan Di Resta for the rest of the race, just pipped to the line by Stefan, 7 thousandths of a second!
Subsequently given a 5sec penalty dropping me a place after the race for going 4 wheels over the white lines 3 times. Just for fun, count how many times the red car in my rear facing camera goes 4 wheels over...
Scottish Mini Cooper Cup - Round 5 Race 3

Yeah yeah, need to work on my starts! Guy Johnston slips past and I'm left defending against Chris Reid. First lap fracas at Clarks leaves nowhere to go along railway and Chris slips by on the run up the straight. Got him back with minimal elbows out and chased down Steven Brewster and Kyle Reid fighting hard for 5th. Good race but nowhere to get them and after Kyle missed 3rd on the home straight for the last time, my car needs a nose job!

Not mine per se, but here's my team mate's roll from this weekend. ABS problems after getting smashed off the track earlier in the day left him with a solid pedal in to the first corner. Tried to avoid collecting anyone else in his accident and clipped the inside of the donut kerb and thoroughly destroyed the car.

Onboard footage from this Sunday's BTCC support race at Knockhill Racing Circuit in the Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup. Good start but Kenny Brewster got to Duffus first and Steven Brewster snuck through as well.
Chaos for a few laps with the occasional shove along from my team mate David Sleigh, before Steven got past George Orr with an epic save through the chicance. Few laps later I stuck a ridiculously late dive in on George, just managed to haul it up and get round the hairpin and took off after Steven. No catching him though, he was just too far gone.

What's the view on my move at 08:50, where I follow a lapping car through, then get a knock for being cheeky...?
Not cheeky - entirely legitimate - paid him back for being so defensive through old hairpin! If you could only get rid of some of that understeer, you'd have been even quicker. What's the view on my move at 08:50, where I follow a lapping car through, then get a knock for being cheeky...?
If he'd made that move on anyone from my series the result would have been a Porsche pointing backwards tbh.
Knockhill 23rd September
Race 1 - Started 3rd, finished 2nd
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYd_0_gRvk4
Qualified 4th, good start slotting in behind Tim then passing him along railway to chase after Kenny Brewster in 2nd. Looked like he was going to dive to the right and defend out the hairpin, but he didnt, and I had already committed to the outside, so we went rallycross for a bit. Try again next lap and job done on the cut back. 2nd place & 1st in the newcomers.
Race 2 - Started 2nd, finished 7th
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxkgjf0L8Is
Started on the front row along side David Sleigh, went up the inside in to the lead on lap 1 at MacIntyres. Threw it off at Clarks on cold tyres (mixed with some stupidity) then got muscled out at the hairpin. Missed a gear rejoining to complete the place losing spree.
Took a lunge up the inside of Shane Stoney at Clarks trying to work my way back up the field and collected him. It was a desperate move and one I appologised for, both to Shane and then the officials in the Clerk of the Courses office. Result was bent steering and a bent damper, with the car handling like a pogo-stick, Ross Wylie managed to grab the inside at the hairpin and nudge me out dropping me back down the order. Managed to rescue 7th off Kenny Brewster at the line and with the grid draw, secured 2nd on the grid for the final race.
Race 3 - Started 2nd, finished 1st
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNYrY53CjAQ
Started 2nd on the grid along side Kenny Brewster. Smoked him off the line and tried to run away with it. The damaged damper from Race 2 wasn't impacting the car too badly as Team Sleigh had completely re-aligned my car but I wasnt able to break away.
Mid way through the race Shane Stoney caught me and it was a defensive race from there to the flag. Race win, delighted!

SMRC Season Finale at Knockhill - 7th October 2012
Race 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhLHboK1ARc
Started 3rd, good start, help position until lap 2. Ross Wylie dived up the inside at the hairpin and, knowing this would end with me in the gravel, I backed out to only lose 2 places rather than 4 or 5. Chasing Ross and Steven Brewster I followed them through past David and Tim Sleigh. Probably could have mounted a better challenge for 2nd if I hadn't mucked up the safety car restart. Happy with 3rd, exactly what I needed for the championship(s).
Race 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkeSDXXQ_HU
Started 3rd, dropped to 5th after Ross Wylie in pole had a poor start. Under pressure from Lewis Grant for the first few laps as the pack bunched up, briefly dropping back to 6th but picking back up to 3rd before the safety car came out. Next out came the red flag, on the restart, I had a poor start losing 3rd to Tim Sleigh but he had to pull over to reset the car's electrics allowing me back in to 3rd and chased Steven Brewster home.
Race 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI2DkQdmPOk
Started 3rd on the grid, dived past Tim Sleigh on lap one in to MacIntyres and set off after David Sleigh. David let me through to chase the win and seal 3rd overall in the championship.
Season results:
- 3 all out championship wins
- 9 championship podiums
- 10 newcomers wins
- 19 newcomers podiums
- 3rd overall championship
- 1st newcomers championship

Breaking my own rules slightly here but just got given this one from the archives:
1992 Scottish Kart Championships, Cadet Class, from West of Scotland Kart Club's Summerlee Raceway.
I started 4th on the grid (#61) and spun out going for the lead on lap one (not shown in the video). Saw my dads face going in to the last corner immediately afterwards and then got my head down for the remaining 14 laps so as to hopefully avoid certain death when I got back in the pits! Favourite move being the 2 kart pass up the inside in to the last corner
Some noteable names out there, Oly Mortimer of Porsche Carrera Cup in #70 and current FIA World LMP2 Endurance Champion Ryan Dalziel in #28 pulling off an epic last corner pass for the win!

Its that time of year again, season 2013 is goooooooo!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvsHtCZm3v0
Starting 5th on the grid, good start following Kenny Thirlwall and Ryan Borthwick in to the first corner. Some panel bashing between them saw Ryan spin out and I had a lucky miss to move in to 4th. Not going to lie, I held my breath, clenched my butt and hit the loud pedal on that one!
Challenged Kenny for the next lap or so but the race turned rather processional after that so cut the clip short.
http://youtu.be/JWLAc2rSOyo
Race 2, started off 4th and out dragged Kenny Thirlwall down to the first corner. Gave some room on the apex since it wasn’t quite job done then got punted in to the gravel before Leslies. Dragged the car out the gravel and started the fight back from 22nd place. Ended up finishing 9th, just, after a fiesty last corner with Elaine Marshall and Marco Haig.
I hold my hands up and admit I was hauled up by the officials after the race. I passed under yellow flags on lap 3 and deserved my punishment. Red mist is no excuse for endangering the marshals and other drivers.

Race 3, 9th on the grid, up to 7th by the time we got in to MacIntyres. Slotted past Josh Baird in to 6th at the hairpin on lap one and then had to fight him off for a few laps. The final few laps were spent chasing down Vic Covey Junior and then hooking on to the battle for 3rd between Joe Tanner and Kyle Reid. Heading along railway straight for the final time, Vic needed a little bump start to get him going then we had a drag race up to the finish line. Finished 6th, with 3rd to 6th being covered by just 0.18 seconds!
Better results than the first round last year, but at the same time, not as good as I was looking for. Still, I learned from it and theres a few instances especially in race 3 I made the wrong call and could have finished higher with some smarter moves. Then again, I might just have increased my bodywork repair bill exponentially and finished in the same place!

Race 1:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdmAraUVzGM
Very mediocre start with the car bogging down after I let out the throttle to stop it creeping on the line. Trying too hard after fluffing the start, I ran wide twice and got the warning flag for circuit limits on lap 3. Race was a bogey after that as I had to wind it in to avoid risking a penalty. Micky Doyle passed me later in the race with Aiden Moffat diving through after him. Managed to retake Aiden to finish 6th.
Race 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7B8yUvab24
Better start to this race off 6th on the grid. Had the pace in patches during the race but couldnt catch on to the lead group or drop the guys behind in no small part due to countless little errors. Was also a safe distance from the guys in front as they *ahem* traded paint samples.
Race 3:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRuCAZJEq-4
Lost out off the lights to Shane Stoney. Yet more silly mistakes drop me back to 4th but fought back to 3rd passing Kenny Thirlwall out the hairpin.

Race 1, frankly pish qualifying puts me 9th on the grid. Saw off the challenge from Iain Munro early on but could not get past Lewis. He drove an incredibly defensive race which just didn't give me any chances to slip through and we both had to see off Iain again when he caught us because of the slow pace. Bit disappointing really, as lap times show if we'd together we'd both have been able to close in on and challenge Aiden and Micky in 5th and 6th.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYNTOFimO-o
Race 2: Best. Start. Ever.
Blasted Lewis off the line and Micky by the first corner, up in to 6th. Safety car came out to pull Lewis out the gravel after someone tapped him round. On the restart got the jump on Kyle and set off after Aiden. Bit of pressuring saw him run wide at Clarks to allow me to slip past along rail way and start chasing the lead quartet. The tussling in front was pretty intense, Vic got run wide through MacIntyres leaving me a perfect opportunity to squeeze through in to Butchers. Couple of laps later Joe and Dave were drag racing up the straight, initially planned to follow Joe through but saw Dave wasn’t going to concede the corner so ducked out of it and squared up my line for MacIntyres where I knew they’d slow each other down big time. Sure enough, passed the 2 of them in to Butchers and then took off after Kenny but there was no catching him with only 2 laps to go. The move on Dave and Joe was the one the commentator was going bezerk over if anyone was there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV5BgGGgcF4
Race 3. Not a bad start but Kenny kept it going round the outside at Duffus and slipped in front in to MacIntyres. Took him back with a bit of help from Dave but he managed to squeeze past on the straight in to Duffus the next lap. After Joe got a poor run through the hairpin, Dave got the run on me and after that things became a bit spaced out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I2NbntkgH0
Race 4; Worst. Start. Ever.
The lights held on red for aaaaaaaaaaaages and just as the car started to bog on the revs and I dipped the clutch to bring them back up, the buggers went out! Joe was across in front of me by the time we went under the bridge it was that bad. Defended against Micky for the first couple of laps but Joe slowed through the hairpin at the end of lap 2 and Micky got a run on me without time to move across and cover it so just tucked in behind him to prevent VCJ from moving through as well. Joe and Micky got to business slowing the whole thing down leaving me trying not to let Vic get a move on me and trying not to break anything despite running up their backsides at least twice. With Vic getting swallowed in the battle further back with David and Kenny it gave us a chance to gap but there was just no way through.

Had a busy weekend, 2 races in 2 days. 6Hr Birkett in an MR2 on Saturday and 2Hr Lotus Cup UK race on Sunday.
Birkett footage is especially entertaining, if you don't watch much, watch the first couple of minutes, up to the 3 car collision at 2:10 .. you might then want to watch the last 10 secs to see me get my own back

Freeze frame it right after impact and his car is 4 wheels on the black stuff with space to spare to the white line. Doesnt really look like he went down the grass for it [and a bit pot vs kettle if you're saying he shouldnt have squeezed through a space with both your breathe in moments preceding it ]
