The CSCC will run two 40 min races later this year for post year 2000 machinery, ahead of a potential new series in 2015. This years races will run at Donington Park in August and Oulton park in September.

Sequential gearboxes will be allowed and there will be a slightly more relaxed view of aerodynamics than in CSCC series up to now, as long as the bodyshell and wheel arches are largely standard size and shape. Cars will run on List 1B tyres.

There will be a 4 class structure:

Up to 2000cc
2001cc-3000cc
3001cc-3500cc
Over 3500cc

The series will be known as the "New Millenium" series and cater for cars such as the Renault Clio Cup cars, Ginetta G50s etc, as well as self built cars.

As always, if you want any details please ask!

Like the sound of this Andy.

Chevy Lacetti, RWD, Chevy V8, small arches...... OK?

Rob.
Rob, I don't know much about US cars but I assume so if it's a road car based race car an not a space frame.

Is there a forward cut off? Eg, could we run 458s and 991 cup cars.
No forward cut off date yet, for the two races this year. We will have to see what the interest is before refining the way forward.

I assume a 458 and 991 would be eligible as long as they meet the regs but we also want to attract cars such as Clio Cups and not just exotica. Remember, they will have yo race on List 1a or 1b tyres.

Pre year 2000 cars that have not previously been eligible for existing series due to aero or gearbox restrictions will also be eligible.

I hope so Steve. We have already had interest from cars such as VX220 Turbo, lotus 2-11 and Exige, Ginetta G40 and 50 and a GT4 Camaro so hopefully it will build. Be good to see a few 996 Cup cars join in, some Aston GT4, maybe some of the Kumho BMWs that have not been eligible so far. However, I also would like to encourage Clio Cup cars and others < 2 litres and things like the Mk1 SEAT Leon Cupra cars.

We may also have to look at the separation of sequential gearbox cars in the future. We will see how it goes this year, I wouldn't want people to be put off if they thought they had to have a sequential. Trouble is that there are production Tiptronic and DSG types which don't really confer any advantage and proper race sequentials that may.

Andy, can Caterhams enter this too?
Mitch, it's a good question and I will ask.

Of course, Caterhams are already eligible for the existing 40 min "Magnificent 7s" series so I assume you are considering second races?

I'm really pleased to see this series. Whilst I'll not be taking part just yet, I have a Motorsport Elise with a sequential box, rear wing, front splitter etc and was struggling to know what I'd run it in in the UK.

Any specific restrictions on engine mods? Will class system just be by engine size (and possibly gearbox) or more to it than that?
Will, the two races this year at Donington and Oulton will trial the series and we will adjust for next year based on experience and customer feedback. We like to keep things simple so classes will be based on engine capacity.

No restriction on engine mods as long as its the same type of engine for the car model and the same induction system.

Interest shown so far from a variety of cars from Lotus 2-11 and Elise, to Clio Cup Cars, to BMW to a Camaro GT4!

Hoping to attract Ginetta G40 and G50, Porsche Cup cars, BMW Mini Challenge etc etc

Some of our existing Modern Classics racers may also do a second race in this series.

OK I'll bite. Any idea of how much? Lots of comments already hear about how expensive GT Cup and Britcar are but until you tell us how much, how can anyone compare?

No penalty at all for sequential box?

Obviously this isn't a championship for 2015 but would you consider making it one for the following season?

Chris.
Chris, "How much" depends on the running costs of individual cars! Entry fees and subscriptions will be the same as for all our series so at 2014 prices:
Membership £39 for 12 months
Series subscription £99
Entry fees for a 30 min practice and 40 min race vary from about £295 (Anglesey) to £365 (from memory at Donington or the main MSV tracks)
Tyres are List 1B (Yoko A048, Toyo 888, Dunlop Direzza, Michelin Pilot Cup Sport etc etc) and a set will probably last most of a season. 2 sets in the year needed at most.

We don't do Championships - our members don't seem interested and there has never been any call to make our series in to championships. The advantage of this is that you can miss a round without worrying about championship points!!

At the moment there isn't a plan to have a penalty for sequential gearboxes but that may change depending on how things go in the two taster races this year, but as a rule we like to keep things simple and don't pretend that there is any attempt at performance balancing.

There will be a 30 second time penalty to be served at the pit stop, in addition to the driver change time for outright winners that lasts all season. Every time you win a race you get a 30 sec penalty, so win 2 races and you have a 1 min pit stop penalty before you can do your driver change.

As always, single drivers are very welcome and simulate a driver change at the pit stop by getting out of the car and getting back in.

Thanks Andy and Will. Can you confirm the format? 30 minute qual and two 40 minute races? And would this normally be on a single day?

Chris.
Chris, 30 min qualifying and 1 x 40 min race always all on the same day.

Occasionally we have a Sports Vs Saloon race on the same day at extra cost, usually about £120 for a sprint race if you have already entered one of the other races. Sometimes, like at Anglesey in a couple of weeks time, we have a an extra 40 min Sports Vs Saloon race for an extra £195.

Once a year we go to Spa for a 30 min qual and 2 x 40 min races over 3 days. This year the entry for that was £550.

Hope that helps.

It will be in the MSA's Blue Book of regs. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head. Can be accessed on line.

Dan, this series will be way cheaper than Britcar!

We have done a night race in the past but it was a one off. It may happen again, and I will suggest it, but I think we need to establish the series first.

Glad you enjoyed it. A good turn out of 15 cars for the first ever race in this potential new series. Hopefully it will grow from here and we have already had enquiries from Ginetta G40 racers for Snetterton, too.

Cars ranging from TVRs and BMWs at the front to Ford Pumas, but good driving standards throughout. The Clio Cup cars looked fantastic and are ideal cars for this series, well done.

I am sure that the regs will be re-considered at the end of the season in the light of the experience of the races at Donington and Snetterton but I wouldn't expect engine swaps to be allowed tbh.

Hi Andy,
I hear what you are saying.
I'd best go and look for an engine that hasn't been manufactured for 20 years, is rarer now than hens teeth and spare parts are no longer available, wish me luck LOL biggrin.
I do understand the issue but this may be a precedent we don't want to set. It will be discussed by The Committee though.

You could always go back to a Rover - not in production but still lots about.
