HANS to be mandatory from 2016

Hadn't seen this anywhere but I see the MSA have announced that Frontal Head Restraints will be compulsory in circuit racing (apart from some historic stuff) from 2016.

I think its a great idea but I'm surprised they haven't given their usual 3 years notice.

And in some cases, seats will need to be changed too as not all allow sufficient room between the headrest and helmet for a HANS device. I guess there'll be quite a few people buying new helmets too. Could get very expensive but it always has been and always will be in Motorsport.

The helmet has a different certification if it came with HANS posts factory fitted. Its a total minefield and I doubt even the scruts will have a clue but personally I wouldn't take the chance.
