It was an eventful weekend! The qualifying went poorly as the splined part of the hub in the rear upright broke so the rear end was all over the place, so qualified 14th out of 42. Thanks to some great work from Ted and Andy at the factory on saturday evening we got a new hub off them, and got the car sorted for the race.

In the race we immediately got up to 7th and were on the pace until we dropped down to 7 cylinders because an HT lead fell off and burnt in two against the manifold, so lost 6 laps whilst we pitted twice to first diagnose the problem and then fit a new lead. We headed back out and showed terrific pace for the next 2 hours and did two blistering pitstops, and then with an hour to go the right hand drive shaft let go, just as we were lapping 2 seconds quicker than the rest of the field...so sadly that was the end of the race for us.

Thankfully all the updates we put on the car for this race worked very well; we need to address a few more areas on the car for the next round but the car was a vast improvement over the first two rounds so things are very much heading in the right direction.

A bit of on board video for you too as a little treat...starts off from about 25 minutes into the race...

And a gallery of the event too...

Enjoy!

Thanks very much guys - if you saw the difference in budgets available too it really is quite eye opening! The MJC Team stuck in a new engine overnight after they blew theirs up in qualifying - £40K on an engine in the blink of an eye, which is around our budget for the whole season!

The car looks very quick and stable in the video footage.

What power are you running from the LS7?

Keep up the good work and keep us informed of when you are racing. I hope to find the time to come along.

Paul
If we told you that we would have to kill you! Though we can say its pretty stock apart from a few tweaks for reliability, such as putting more wrap on the waterpump pulley etc.

We filled the washer bottle as at the start of the race there was a chance of rain, and its this that was leaking, through the spray nozzles! Its only when we are over around 120ish - I guess there is a low pressure area at the base of the screen that caused the fluid to be sucked out, either way it was nothing serious, just a little distracting!

That's very impressive, get the reliability sorted and it won't be long before you get a podium finish, proper David and Goliath stuff!

Although they're pricey, have you considered changing to Grasser hubs?
I have looked into it previously but not recently, I have just looked at their site and can't see the products that they used to offer. Our main problem at the moment is funding - we have some updates for the next race, but in the long run we will be designing these parts ourselves.

Thank you I was driving for the opening 3 races to get the car up to speed and in front of potential customers for the car. The car is fast and with a little more development should be winning races.

P.S.... I am available to hire if anyone needs to do the same wink

All the best,

Adam Wilcox

And a great job you did too! Seriously though, we would highly recommend Adam for anyone looking for an experienced driver to help them develop their car and their team.

So are you driving at the next race Jonny?

Paul
Hi Paul,

Yes I sure am. Myself and Adam split the drive in the first three rounds, though at the next round il be sharing the drive with a customer driver.
