well, with an hour spare today I have started playing around with laying on decals, but am now unsure... Iam not sure if I like the look of the trickflow sticker with several colours.....and dont worry - itsa long way from done!!
so should I use a multitude of manufacturers multi coloured logos OR
should I have them all changed to matt black and silver only, ala Sauber.. which is what I am swaying towards.....

well, had a little play this afternoon when I had a couple of spare moments...
just messing about with a roll of black tape to see what the car might look like with satin black panels/race decals... inside the black lines would be satin black ..

You have upset me now - this is very similar to what our livery was going to be like for this year....!

Likewise. Mine was going to be gulf schema in black and grey with red details. Will need something different now. Hello Kittie in grey and black schema with BMW M116d badge on the rear grill.

Back to the drawing board...
nah, hello kitty is always pink...

If you are looking at new wing mirrors you could do much worse than a pair of these..

They are electric too.

If you put all the carp you are storing in the garage into a Self Storage lockup you could get the car in and the monthly bill will spur you on to finish the garage!!!!

When it's finished it will be a proper man cave though....

Paul
I know Paul, I have seen them a few times and in fact almost bought a pair last year, when the car was in getting the front end swapped but I dont know, they just dont do it 100% for me for some reason.

Why spoil a fine car with daft numbers on the side?

When I was a lad, you'd have been chucked out of the motor club for that.
thats good news.

Each to their own.

I like the fact they are easy to use with no vibrations and a much better view than the standard mirrors.

Paul
its the mountings and mounting positions that just seem a little ungainly to me, i might yet change my mind though

Given all the other mods that you are doing, have you considered a periscope review mirror?
funnily enough yes, but it just wouldnt work with the engine intake.

just got completely ripped off by breakersyard in London... paid for set of heatedpowerfold mirrors with door harnesses and powerfold switch only to get delivered non heated non powerfold mirrors with harness for one side only and a powerfold switch which is cracked and is incorrect for what I asked for...
still waiting for anyone to even answer the phone to me ...

but anyway.... they are a lot bigger than I had envisaged,
although they do offer an excellent level of visibility and should look nice if they were in prepreg carbon..

Erh... a bit too big indeed IMO
my initial thoughts exactly,
but after seeing the viewing area and temporarily fixing them in place whilst trying to visualise them in silver or black or carbon...they are growing on me...

split them up and had a look, should be pretty easy to copy them in carbon, would have to be made in 2 halves though, leg and housing then bonded together.
From some angles I do like them and from others...hmmm..big...
BUT and its a big but... they do give the best rear view visibility /that I have ever seen in a GTR............big though.. big..

did i mention they were quite a bit bigger than I was expecting...

  • edit ..... they are big though arent they...

Awww sod it, I think I am just going to modify the mounting bases on them and fit them as they are....paint them silver and see what they look like before going any further with them..
the level of visibility is just so much better than I hve ever experienced in any GTR.. guess the car could end up with big juggs..
