I ordered the aluminum radiator with my kit (figured I'd save weight where I could) and the time has come for its installation. It appears to have a much tighter fin matrix than the standard unit and, while the factory assured me that no harm would come from deforming the fins while mounting the fans, I just found that it's impossible to actually do so. That is, I'm unable to drive the plastic fan retaining pins through the radiator. They don't penetrate more than half an inch (at most) before bending and losing all ability to continue through the radiator. Maybe I picked the wrong spot and am coming hard up against some internal structure?

Has anyone already solved this problem? Ideas?

I think that's it exactly. I moved over slightly to one side and used a straight pick of the same diameter as the pin to blaze the path and, presto! Done and done.

On to the next task… :-)
