All, I'm will be taking a 3,245 mile road trip with the Ultima and towing a light trailer, what tire pressure do you recommend for the highway? Thanks...

All, This is the Cannonball Run, no support vehicle is allowed. The trip will include 19 events (road tracks, oval track, drag strip, wet and dry skid pad) and highway check points. I'll need to bring spare tires, tools, jacks, brake pads, oil & filter, gas, bicycle, helmet, suit, gas, food, water, etc.. I found the following photos, one of an Ultima that participated in the 2006 event that towed, picture of hitch and a viper photo'd towing a trailer.

I don't see how you could do the event with only the side pods. Sending a box to the mid point is not a bad idea but still won't work.

PS. On the trailer front. The trailer axle needs to be at least the same distance from the ball hitch as the wheelbase on the car. It is the only way it will be stable at speed and not be a bugger to reverse.

Paul, Sounds about right, the trailer is a 4x8 feet.

All, I decided to drive the car to and from the start of the event so that added another 1,400 miles to the trip totaling ~4,700 miles. Had and awesome time and learned a lot about my Ultima and I. 19 sessions on 8 days surrounded by great people and great cars.

2015 One Lap of America - 16th overall

16th overall out of 59 entries. We had a great time. 19 track events in 8 days. It was like completing a race season in one week's time. Learned a lot in one week. Total miles from home and back ~4,700. Changed the oil and filter at the half way point in TX. Challenges: Changed an axle, fuel pump, reattached the throttle cable, driving ~300 miles from New Mexico into Texas in some of the worst rain I've seen, getting stuck in the Oklahoma tornado rain with the car in a flash flood at 10PM not being able see where the car was being pushed by the flood.

Great pictures. It looks like you had some fun.

I thought the sun always shines in the US. Are you sure you didn't do the trip in the UK!

Paul
Paul, I was hoping for no rain as the Ultima never saw rain before this trip. Two of the eight days we had rain. The trip was a blast. I squeezed a whole year of track time into one week. The Ultima pulled the 4 x 8 foot trailer with no problem, I didn't even know it was there. Jim

looking great, hope its fun... looking at the front wheels you might be asked lots of questions about longer wishbones.redface)
Ah, you noticed. Yes the wish bones have been lengthen 2.5" to ideally correct scrub radius, this was done by the original builder in 2005.

In one of those photos it looks like you are using a stencil to paint Goodrich on your Kumhos. Is that the case?
Ken, Actually, the tires were BF Goodrich Rival S tires. During tech inspection Tire Rack staff painted the manufacturer name on the tires and then applied a sticker on the car. The tires had to be bought from Tire Rack for the event and they were shipped with markings engraved in the tire to identify them. These are excellent tires and I would recommend them as I thought they performed well. Keep in mind they are street tires. The tread ware factor had to be 140 and/or above to qualify.
