hey guys i finally have completed installing a 2.7 rs4 biturbo engine in my ultima. i would say it has be a learning process and electrical hell but worth it. getting to fit the engine and intercoolers was tight but i am creative :-)
also alot of change in the engine aby had to be made and re-designed since the rs4 engine is 1 cm wider than the tube construction, so the engine had to be squeezed.
however an audi engine is not a beautiful shiny engine so a alu cover was made both to guide the heat out to the rear and shield heat from the air intake.
the intercooler are placed at the bottom of engine bay and airflow wings will feed them with cool air.
now i just have to complete the car and get this lightweight ultima on track.

yes challenge are a most. solving the unknown seem so attractive that i had to do it.
yes it is a v6 this biturbo engine has so much aftermarket that it is easily possible to tune for 800+ hp. at this point it has 430 whp a friend of mine told me too wait tuning the engine. tuning just become an addiction.

in the begining i was going for the s6 v8 biturbo but it is too wide and tuning part are not easy to get. so i looked at rs4 which has so much aftermarket part and sparepart at fair prices.

in that case i have to take some fotos of the turboes since they are well hidden in this engine. the coolers are to the floor. on the picture you can spot them under the opening in the floor.

No reply yet Alex. I may try calling in a while.

I have a few of these engines. I am going to fit one into a 1936 Rolls Royce Phantom III chassis I have to create a 'special'.

I also supply them to others wishing to do the same or fit them to boats or static displays.
It's a bit of a hobby really.

Paul
Poul the engine is rather large and with 650 hk on a phantom sounds like utopia, but at the same time something that has to be tried. i cant wait to see or hear what such a car looks and sounds like. let me know if you need help and i will give him a call, write me your contakt info somehow. and i will pass them on to the him.

Interesting build, I know the 2.7T units very well indeed! And you are right, you can have as much power as you want provided you have the money for the bits! They can be made to look nice IMHO so you could remove the Alu covers. I think you will get better cooling without the top engine covers as it will promote air to travel from the side vents and out the back.

These engines react well to WMI and the 2.0TSFI coil conversions if you wanted to make some improvements over the run of the mill stuff. you could see 550bhp on the std ko4s I think especially ditching the power steering and viscous fan etc.

Something to consider with this car and that engine is the turbo power delivery, You'll get a big fat wedge of torque after the turbo lag and mid corner you'll need to watch for oversteer!
If you are using the std me7.1 ecu these can be programmed with launch control and Flat shifting if you retro fit some of the pedal sensor..... Plenty S4s being scrapped these days you could get looms from etc etc.... smile
Will be nice to see how this performs.
many thanks for the info it very useful, i am using the me7.1 ecu already chip tuned. i am also using the electonic gas pedal. i did also remove the powersteering or hydraulic pump. in addition i got bigger fuel nozzles and hydrogen gas spray in the intake. the fan is stil on the engine, since i directed the airflow to cross under the alu covers in attempt to get the hot air out in the rear end. about the 2.0tsfi coil i had no never heard of i will look into it, a 100 bhp more sounds cute.
if you have more about tuning this engine let me know

anyhow i cant get the ultima gtr rear cover/chassis to fit well it seems to be asymetrical or going to the left side. and i cant adjust more to compromise.any idea what to do?

Looking very good Alex.

Is the rear clam slightly open in those pictures?

I do like the black parts to 'balance' the rear and blend the front lights.

Talking to the chap I purchased the engine from, he told me about the registration tax in Denmark. It sounded very, very expensive. Has it cost much to register the Ultima?

If you get some time then a bit of video (posted on youtube maybe) would be nice.

Paul
Hi Paul, well about the rear clam i put a piece of cloth in between so it would not lock. since if it was to catch fire (again) i would be ready and fast to open it. but it did behave very well. and i am so so so glad to finally being driving this machine. the registration tax is as you know very, very expensive, an estimation would be about the small cute amount of 150000 uk punds. so perhaps i would rather buy a small cute house in south france with a garage and registrate it there.

but i dont know the registration fee in the rest of eu. does any one here know what it is in france spain italy?

how is your project on the R&R with the monster engine?

best regs.
