Rear engine cross brace

Chaps,

just out of curiosity more than anything else, has anyone actually modified the removable sections of the old chassis and cross braced them?

I am aware of the merry dance of stress analysis and the impact of adding something somewhere, to somewhere else, has anyone done it? It just seems to me to be a very obvious mod. (This is where I am fully expecting an essay on structural dynamics in response! )
