Retrofitting LED Taillights

I have a 2004 US-spec GTR. Has anyone retrofitted the newer LED taillights to replace the old lamp-based ones? Is this a simple plug and play upgrade? I'd ask the factory, but they're a little busy fielding Evolution emails...

Thanks all for the responses. So when you widen the taillight openings, is this something that will require repainting to finish, or are you simply shaving down the outer edge of the lip on the openings? Also, with regards to the wiring, is it literally a process of connecting the new LED taillights to the old wires, or are additional wiring modifications necessary? Thanks!
