Hi all,

I am planning on fitting the windscreen to my GTR this weekend. Any tips would be much appreciated. A trial fit (aka resting it in place) suggests it is going to be a case of finding the position which is the best compromise all round.

Whilst the sealant edge finish can look tidy if done very well, I am planning on fitting a rubber profile strip over the this with a view to achieving what might be a nicer finish, with less skill required!

As said above tips/advice (not including getting someone else to do it....) would be gratefully received!

Many thanks for the advice both. Car looking very good, Abbo.

On mine, the glass sits proud on the passenger side on the lower edge. I tried messing about with the positioning of it, and this seems to be the best I can achieve. Before I just assume this is normal and bond it in, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Mines a little proud on both the passenger and driver lower edge - I couldn't see how I could change this so went ahead. Now looking again I'm going to have to look to making some of the sealing surface finish a little better - It's not the easiest job and whereas it looked perfect last night, today it's not. Maybe I'm too picky. Good luck today
Thanks again Abbo - when doing these jobs there is always a risk of obsessing over the detail, particularly on those bits you're not 100% happy with - you know they are there whereas no one else will notice - so might be worth sleeping on the sealing finish before attacking it!

I have another question if that's alright. The factory supplied Betaprime adhesive. There is glass primer (Betaprime 5500 - green lid) as well as 'adhesion promoter' (Betawipe 04604 - yellow lid).

Any idea what order I am supposed to used these? I am assuming just on the glass, too but could be wrong. Have read the technical sheets on the internet and am still none the wiser...

Thanks for your help, Abbo.

In conection with which bottle to use for what on the Betamate system, the answer can be found in that rarely consulted source known as the build manual...

Yellow cap first to clean the glass, then green cap applied as a primer.

The screen is in. I know the rubber seal will divide opinions - my own opinion is divided. On the upside, it provides for a very neat and uniform finish without having to apply your shower tray fitting skills. On the downside it's a big rubber seal...

On balance, I am pleased with it (I think). Will leave it for now and see if I get used to it.
