My wiring harness is a bit irregular with respect to the two horn wires. While the wiring doc shows the horn as having purple/black and black wires (while the horn button on the dash has purple/black and purple), I've got purple/yellow and black wires at the horn and the purple/yellow and purple at the button. The black and purple wires make a circuit, but the two purple/yellow wires do not.

I've checked the fuse and it's fine, so the problem is elsewhere. Also, I've put power to the horn directly and it sounds properly, so that's not it. I have a bad switch in addition to irregular wire colors, but it's a simple device and seems exactly the same as the other two, which are working fine, so far as I can determine at this point.

Something seems seriously amiss with the harness and I'm officially out of my depth, wiring-wise.

Any ideas?

Ken

OK, it's fixed! Thanks, guys, for the excellent pointers.

Some data points:
  • I've got v3.2 of the loom & wiring diagram.
  • It does appear that the purple/black wire was randomly replaced by a purple/yellow wire, but the diagram not updated. In other words, another case of being "Ultima'ed" by the factory.
  • The linked diagram is exceptional (thanks to whomever generated it!) and exactly the sort of thing that should accompany the kit.
Purple/yellow continuity was again established with the multimeter (I did this yesterday), but the horn still wouldn't sound. However (drumroll, please…), when I removed the switch from the dash, I saw that the screw securing the purple/yellow wire was not in contact with the bare wire end, but was nearly 1cm back on the plastic wire insulation sheath. A very quick fix and we now have horn!

Thanks, again, for the assistance. Onwards…!

Ken
