Gear change position

Hi guys.
I have a caterham7 but aspire to an Ultima.
I know that the first decision you have to make for a right hand drive new build (other than whether it is to be a GTR or Can Am) is whether to go for a right hand "racing" gear change or a left hand/central gear change.
My question is directed to those who opted for the right hand change - namely, how do you get on with it, do you prefer it to your daily driver gear change or, given your time agin, would you now opt for a more conventional central change.
I would have thought this was a question a number of aspiring owners might ask but I couldn't see it on a search - apologies if it has been done to death before.
