Immobilisers, alarms and insurance

Bit of advice please guys - I know you don't all want to divulge what you've got hidden around your cars security wise, but I'd like some advice on what to do while I'm building mine.

For insurance purposes I think I'm going to need an alarm/immobiliser, and suspect I'll need Thatcham Cat 1 rating with installer's certificate.

What I don't really want to do is finish the car then have someone diving into the wiring (and pay 400 quid for the privilege!), I'd far rather install the system myself during the build if I can - I'm hoping to be fitting the cockpit section within the next week or so. One option is to try to find an installer who will inspect my installation and give me a certificate, but I don't know any local installers. Or have any of you managed to get decent terms with a self fitted alarm/immobiliser, if so with who?

To fit a Cat 1 alarm will I need to have door switches on the doors, bonnet and canopy?

I've found a local guy who'll come and fit the main module(s) into the car/wiring loom and let me deal with the door switches, locks etc. later.
