Recently bought a new TV & although the picture is brilliant I can't say the same for the sound.
So I tried a Bose Cinemate (the £1300 one) although it sounded better than the TV I wasn't blown away & couldn't justify the cost.
Maybe its an age thing the wife & I are late 50's so maybe we can't hear the "amazing sound quality" the Bose salesman talked about.
After a three week trial I returned it to the store.
I really don't want wires all over the room so I guess a sound bar is the way to go.
Im looking for an improvement on the TV's sound that represents value for money.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I'll have to do more research on the products mentioned.
I wouldn't say our hearing was any worse than that of someone else in our age group sorry if my original post was misleading.
The Bose Cinemate did make a difference to the TV speakers just not the BIG difference I expected for £1300.
I originally thought about Bose because I have a Bose set up in my car (Audi) & have been very impressed with it.
