Talking today about the dearth of hifi shops. When I was a nipper I used to love visiting the local hifi store and listening to the demos.

Now there are no shops and no opportunity to hear proper hifi.

With advances in technology these days making a good quality system need cost peanuts.

Hifi to the current generation is low fi MP3 on an iPhone with those hideously bad earphones.

If the kids of today had the chance to listen to a decent hifi costing no more than the iTunes ste would they still get it?

Still remember the first time I heard Rumours on a budget system. Brothers in arms on a proper setup.

With the current loudness war induced pain and stefi. Would they care?

Plenty of those old 3020s still going to.

Trouble is the kids these days have no exposure to hifi at all.
If you don't know it exists there is no want for it.

I have taken my still functioning but ancient Technics amp anf floor standing speakers to the tip in the last week as they havent been used in about 4 years.
Could you not have offered the on here?
Or donated to a charity shop, seems a shame and could have given someone a start on the hifi route.
Many folks interest started from being given old kit.

Kind of goes back tomboy started this.
There is no exposure to real HiFi anymore.
Dealers used to have open evenings where you could enjoy hearing the latest kit etc.
Still think I am sadly correct.
A few of us care but that is all.
HiFi shows are for the geeks so won't ever get a passing visit.
Music releases are so atrociously mastered they are unlistenable without hours of tweaking on a PC.

Still there will be yet another Apple Store opening nearby selling their made in China for £10 iHavetoHave its and there stty iTunes rubbish.

Completed basic level, after listening to the same track so many times I can't move on. Wings of a bleeding dove. Aaaaargh.
Struggled quite a bit with stereo width.

There is a bar on display, you need 5 correct for next level.

Needs more different tracks. Took probably 10 attempts at the stereo one.

Yeah it's a shame that people are willing to stump up for fashion but don't know what they're missing re audio quality. I guess many don't care but many probably don't even realise what's possible.
Apple syndrome, some folk believe the appalling iEarPhones are actually OK. For the ridiculous cost of an iPhone you think they could do a deal with Sennheiser or someone who actually make decent ones for low prices.

Agree with many others, iPhone is woeful. I have to have one for work, detestable company. For a good quality mobile sound my old BlackBerry Bold 9900 was actually rather good. Current Z30 isn't half as good.
