Having had my recorded music enthusiasm re-ignited, I've now treated myself to those new cables and plugs. Cambridge Symphony 400 cable with Cambridge Banana GO plugs. £30 and the sales guy made them up for me! Followed the advise in here and put the money into replacement speakers and now CD player. (I don't do streaming or such like)

Got me thinking about my current Marantz CD65x player, purchased new 1986 and never let me down. Still sounds good to my ears but like my overhauled amp, will I be pleasantly surprised if I now upgrade my CD player to a Marantz CD6005 ?

This interest certainly has the power to draw you in, and your wallet out whistle

Well the advise has proved sound (no pun intended) so far, maybe just get my CD65X cleaned up and overhauled then. Perhaps oddly, the on/off power switch has always been an annoyance in that it is not a positive feeling when pressed into action. Feels really very very cheap and nasty in action, weird but never let me down.
Will concentrate on the speakers replacement.
Thanks for advise.
