Saw this film the other day, and it was one of the better films I have seen lately, but I wondered if it was just me, or if any others had difficulty understanding what was being said (particularly by the Fitzgerald / villain) character?
Never mind 3D or all that gubbins, I could have done with sub titles to convert the `English' being spoken into something I could understand.
I realize the film went to extraordinary lengths to achieve accuracy in what it was depicting, but missing out on a lot of the dialogue, did take a bit of the shine off what was otherwise an excellent piece of work.

Not sure how anyone would know, but perhaps the mumbling speech type was used to provide an accurate reflection on how the people of that time and place actually spoke?
Given its `almost' complete non intelligibility (to me at least) some subtitles (as they used to cover the French and native Indian spoken in the film) would have been useful.

Looks like this film achieved five awards, such as best film , best actor etc, which I guess is OK but I am fairly sure it did not win one for best script / dialogue smile Anyone here know the other categories it achieved awards in?
