Following on from my thread late last year*, when Amazon were selling the Sennheiser HD 598 new for £75, my HD590's have now died! It appears as though it's the cable that runs from the left hand speaker to the right hand speaker, as I only have sound coming from the left driver. It's a single cable, which is relatively new itself!

Anyway, they've done well over a decade and look a bit tired. I'd like to replace them! However I'm not sure what with? I listen to EDM mostly; Louis Futon, Mord Fustang, Vanic etc ... Does anyone know of some headphones that produce a well-balanced sound for EDM music, without too much bass?

I loved my Sennheisers, so the HD 598 (c.£180) and the HD 650 (c.£240) seem the obvious choices! Any noticeable differences between the two? I guess I really need to spend ten minutes in an audio store and try a few ...

Any help or suggestions are appreciated! smile

AKG K-702? Reference headphones that can be picked up at ridiculously low prices nowadays. Do note they are not bass-heavy while comparing to e.g. B&W phones.
I've never heard of AKG, but the model you mention receives high praise on Amazon! I think I need to go and try some on to see for myself, although I'd hazard a guess that tracking down some DT770s or a K-702 to demo might be somewhat difficult. Otherwise, I reckon the HD650 or B&W P5 might be worth a look ... I don't think I can stretch to the HD630VB or P7 at the moment, unless I wait!
