Sky HD, an Onkyo AV receiver and Surround Sound...part 2
Discussion
After posting April last year about how to add Sky to my home AV setup - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... - I didn't actually get round to doing it [it wasn't top of the job list]. Anyway, I finally gave it a go yesterday but have hit a problem and need some opinions.
So, I decided to HDMI the Sky box into my Onkyo receiver [as appose to the TV direct] as we're happy using the surround sound speakers 100% of the time when watching Sky. I was actually really pleased that hooking it up via HDMI alone is giving us sound - as all the equipment is getting on a bit now, I thought I might have to use an optical cable...but no, it seems all good [speakers and sub working fine].
Job number 2 was to plug in the PS3. I figured using the HDMI 2 slot on the receiver would do the job, but when I turned the PS3 on and [manually] switched the TV to HDMI 2, nothing! So, I needed to figure out if my PS3 was iffy or maybe the HDMI cable...I switched it over to HDMI 1 and bingo, it all worked. So now I know my PS3 is fine and it's nothing to do with any of the cables, I guess it's the slot on the receiver itself?
However, could there be another reason why the HDMI 2 slot isn't working, as appose to it just being broke? Could it be a setting on either the TV, receiver or PS3?
One other odd thing, when I switched my TV over to HDMI 2 [which I guess isn't necessarily related to the HDMI 2 slot on the Onkyo], the sound from Sky remained. Not sure if that helps?! Actually, am I wrong in thinking switching over to HDMI 2 on the TV was linked to HDMI 2 on the receiver, so that's my problem - hope that make sense?!?!
Here's a pic - blue cable goes to the TV, grey to the Sky box, IN 2 obviously the problem!

Sorry for the long message! Thanks in advance.
