TV output volume

Bought a new Samsung TV, and the only audio output is an optical source. Have got a DAC and plugged into the amp. Went into the TV settings and switched to optical out sound. Now however the volume and mute buttons dont work, and I have no remote for the amp. Do I need to turn the volume on the amp every time or is there a setting in the TV I can change? Last thing I need is too many remotes around the place, YouView is good as you only need one remote.

Found the easiest thing was to go and buy an AV amp which is a lot neater.
