General help for newbie required - LCD/LED/Plasma?
Discussion
I was informed yesterday that the V series is no longer in production, with the gap being filled by the VT (3D) variant. He may of course have told me that to either a) make me spend more or b) put me into the G series that he had in stock.
Anyway, SWMBO has now decided that she likes the "sharpness" of the LED as opposed to the "depth" of the plasma.
So, the 55" Samsung 8000 series is on the cards, because "she likes their phones", but I have a contact at Phillips, so may look at the 56" recommended by Plotloss. I assume I am looking at the Philips 56PFL9954?
Whats the biggest difference between LED and LCD though, in viewing terms?

The V is still there, the VT is 3D and not a stop gap. Were you told this by a cretin in a shed (Comet/Currys etc)?
LED refers to the backlighting, it's still an LCD set. It just uses LED instead of Fluros
Samsung crap, swerve.
Yes - to be fair to him out of the two or three I spoke to he had at least some inkling of what he was talking about. He intimated that the V was no longer in production and the VT was superceeding (sp?) because of the 3d stuff.LED refers to the backlighting, it's still an LCD set. It just uses LED instead of Fluros

Is that the right Phillips model number?
Samsung I really wish to avoid, just trying to figure out how to do it because she is using her bonus for it!!!
Found the Phillps I want to have a go at - 58PFL9955H/12.
