BNG 2012 8th & 9th September
Discussion
BNG 2012 on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2012
Venue: Sherburn Aero Club near Wetherby in West Yorkshire (Approx 5 miles from A1(M) Junction 42)
2 day event based around the facilities of the Aero Club and including the use of a 2 mile long runway on Saturday
The idea from the start has been to keep it cheap enough for those that it is necessary for,
(with the track time costing just £20 a car and the chance to camp at just £3 per head) or
for those looking for a more luxurious weekend, there are several very local hotels with swimming pools etc.
We will offer coach transfers for those wishing to drink and leave their cars at the Aero Club overnight or in the safety of the hotel car parks.
Saturday will be the “wheels rolling day”
We will have the exclusive use of the 2 mile long test track/runway all day in pre booked time slots
(£20 per half hour slot to be pre-booked through the TVRCC office)
We hope to have an accurately measured speed display on the day
We will also have 3 organised runs out (kindly run by the North Yorkshire TVRCC Region)
starting at approx. 1pm around the lovely quiet local Yorkshire roads.
Although these runs are free, please book through the TVRCC office (Note max no of 20 cars per run).
Runs are graded for slow, medium and brisk (within limits!!). Please state preference when booking
Subject to numbers we are also hoping to have a Rolling Road attending
The event is based at the Sherburn Aero clubhouse which is a superb, warm welcoming venue with great facilities.
Their bar and café will be open all day both days and they will also run us a dedicated TVR BBQ
The Clubhouse will also stay open on Saturday night for the campers subject to attendance making it worthwhile
We have a large area set aside for TVRs only and there is obviously lots going on at the weekends to watch, with aircraft all around.
There will also be a non-TVR area set aside (round the back!!!)
Trial flights in aircraft and helicopters will be available
On the Saturday night there is a party with disco and Superb TVR entertainer.
The 3 course dinner with coffee and mints for just £27.50 per person seems toocheap with all this on offer
BUT NOTE Max capacity 120 people - so book early – through the TVRCC)
Overnight the choice is to either camp (at £3 per head to reserve a camping space with the TVRCC Office)
or use local hotels (at discounted rates) with coach transfers available
For those camping and not wishing to join us for the Dinner at the hotel, there will be opportunity
to have local takeaways delivered to the site from several local takeaways
The Main hotel for the Evening Function is the Best Western Hotel (Milford Hotel)
This is a very nice recently refurbished hotel with a 12 year resident Chef serving cuisine to a high standard
Sunday will be the “static day” with the various car show events and Main Gathering
Elements such as concourse, loudest car, furthest travelled etc with the awards to be presented
All cars together on a TVR area in sight of all aircraft movements for picnics bbqs etc
There will be Trade Stands for the local TVR Independants and other relevant TVR suppliers
Graham Abbott is also hoping to bring out his Speed 12 for the occasion as well
It is hoped to have various interesting visiting aircraft throughout the day
Leeds is quite close for anyone wishing to stay/visit there over the 2 days or as an add-on.
We will be running a raffle and are supporting 2 local Charities with any proceeds from the whole weekend
They are the Candlelighter’s Charity supporting young children who have or have had Cancer and also
the NeuroMuscular Centre in Winsford that helps one of our member’s wife.
We hope that you will all come and join the fun and Yorkshire warm welcome

Hi,
Cerbera Speed 12 (BHG) will be making an appearance!
This will be a shake down for the car following the re-commission work.
So who wants a ride? Just one ride only, dependant on the biggest contribution to charity. Please PM Trickie Dickie your best offer. This will be refunded in full if the ride doesn't go ahead.
PS no freebies, so please don't ask. There will only be time for one charity run. The other runs will be used to test the car.
Kindest regards
Thanks again for this generous offer Graham and look forward to hearing it running in the flesh!!!!!!Cerbera Speed 12 (BHG) will be making an appearance!

Less than 2 weeks to go
This is a free to attend event but you will need to book this week
if you are wanting to stay over or go to the Saturday dinner & entertainer
Also book the track now at £20 per slot
as it will be £30 per slot on the day to deter late bookers
Starting to get very busy with lots of interest and TVRs coming
Cheers

Trickie, myself and my friend Phil (he'll be bringing an orange Chimeara that's got a few talking on another thread - marmite and all that! ) will be attending, having bought our dinner tickets through the tvrcc website.
However, my only question is, being northern monkeys of the highest order, we are not too sure of dinner etiquette! Is the dinner dance 'formal' in the sense of black tie James Bond penguin suit, or will jeans and a t-shirt suffice? Having never attended before, wouldn't want to be ejected before the first course!
Cheers,
Chris

thanks for this and no problem
Past dinners have been Black Tie but we wanted this to be more affordable and open to everyone
so it is smart casual for the Gents and as glamorous as they want for the Ladies.
It is a nice establishment and very good food that will be served
so would prefer not jeans and a T, but shirt and trousers is fine
Just looking forward to the excellent entertainment we have on offer as well
Hope that helps
Cheers

Looking at the weather forecast I'll be in the mankini.... Zero chance of precipitation... sunny with a few clouds..
They can't forecast this coming weekend never mind next weekendHowever, meanwhile I will be having nightmares about seeing you drive the Speed 12 in a mankini!!!! Ha ha
Hi Mark
The event is a TVRCC National event and as such not open to the "General Public"
However, as the TVRCC is "for anyone with an interest in TVRs"
then your friend can happily come along and have a look at the cars and attractions
There may be limited parking for Euro boxes etc but if he has a very nice camper
we might even let him in to park near us, and make us cups of tea!!!!
Just tell him he will be expected to at least buy some raffle tickets
as there are some very nice prizes and all monies raised by this event goes to
our 2 worthy Charities (not to the TVRCC or Sherburn)
