TVRCC Burghley Horse Power - Saturday drives
Discussion
As part of Burghley Horsepower Gathering 2014 there will be a Rutland Rumble - a scenic drive taking place to the West of the A1 on the rolling roads (no, not those sort of rolling roads!) in England’s smallest county, Rutland
It will start at 14.00 from the Royal Oak, Duddington, Stamford, PE9 3QE. This is conveniently located close to Corby for those taking part in the TVRCC Indoor Go Karting Challenge Cup in the morning and the A47 & A1 if you are travelling from further afield.
If you would like lunch before the run starts please contact the pub on 01780 444267 and mention “TVR Car Club” to book a table, regardless of whether you want a full 3 course meal or sandwich, so they can monitor numbers and make sure you have sufficient time to finish your meal before the run starts. The bar will also be open for drinks when we return at approximately 16.00.
The nearest petrol stations are in Morcott, Stamford, Corby or Peterborough. Please make sure you have a full fuel tank before starting the run.
The Peterborough and Corby Holiday Inns are both 15-20 minutes away.
It would be appreciated if you can add your name to this topic if you are interested in attending so we know how many cars to expect (no need to add your name if you've already put it on the list in the TVRCC Events forum )

Strange - I posted a comment on here and it has vanished.
What I said was is that there are two runs, one starting at 12.00 around Lincs, one at 14.00 around Rutland. They overlap timewise, which means we cannot do both.
I am not the only person who would like to do both. any idea why they were made to overlap, and if there is any chance of, for example, starting the morning one slightly earlier so that there's time for lunch after it anyway?
Original plan was for both runs to start at 2pm and I don't know why the start time for the Lincs run changed. If you want to see if it can start earlier I suggest you contact the organiser Mike Whiston who is the East Mids RO. Bear in mind it'll take you approx. 20 mins to get from the end of the Lincs route to Duddington What I said was is that there are two runs, one starting at 12.00 around Lincs, one at 14.00 around Rutland. I'd rather not change the timings of the Rutland Rumble - if any earlier it will not give long for people to have lunch plus it might mean people taking part in the Karting in the morning in Corby cannot make it, if later it wouldn't give long for some post run refreshments before people start disappearing to their hotels.
Hi everyone
Thanks for the great response. With other people who have contacted me outside of the forum we have 35 cars at the moment, although I expect more will join on the day if the weather is good
Please remember to
1. drop me a message through my profile or email me if you haven't already so I can send you a map & GPS file for the route nearer the time, and
2. contact the Royal Oak (01780 444267) if you would like to have lunch before we head off at 2pm.
Cheers,
L'rs

Does anyone know if there is a thread for the morning karting event? Or is it through the TVRCC only? Fanks.
I've not seen anything in PH about it but there's this topic in the club forum...http://tvr-car-club.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TI...
Route is ready.
Map & notes are ready.
Satnav file is ready.
All I need to do in the next couple of days is drive the route using the satnav file to make sure it works as it should then I'll send everything to those of you who have contacted me with your email addresses.
It will help me enormously if everyone arrives with at least the map on the day so if you haven't let me know your email address already please do so asap.
Cheers,
L'rs

I understand that the details from my email have been shared on Facebook.
As I said in my email this run has been more popular than expected and we will be squeezed for parking space at the pub. Please remember the following points:
1 This is a TVRCC event. You do not need to be a member to attend and 1 or 2 non-TVRs are fine (I know some of you are bringing guests or are having work done on your TVR) but this is not a general car meet/run for a wide variety of makes and models.
2 If you are part of a group and not all of the cars are included in the list please let me know so that I and my "willing" (!!) helpers are aware.
Thanks for your co-operation.

Based on numbers in this topic and others that I know about I think we'll have 50-60 cars on Saturday!
I spoke to the pub earlier and parking plans are in place, 40 of you have already booked for lunch and even the weather
is looking reasonable.

I need to be at Duddington to help park up by 12.
Hi DaveI need to be at Duddington to help park up by 12.
You don't "need" to be there at 12, I think I can handle the early arrivals on my own, but all help appreciated. Send me a text on Saturday morning and let me know if your planning on travelling with me from Uppingham or meeting there
Thanks for the positive comments guys, much appreciated.
It wasn't just down to me because Dave, Gozzy & Alan help enormously by just about getting everyone in the car park
After watching us leave the pub and then waving to everyone at the top of the hill from Stockerston several miles into the route my wife & daughter returned home (in Uppingham) to be confronted by TVRs coming from all directions at the crossroads and a drunk bloke in white trousers shouting "you should've got a Ferrari"!
When I got home...
Mrs L'rs "I didn't think the route you'd planned went through Uppingham"
Me "It didn't..."

What a hoot, when we came to a crossroads at a set of traffic lights I was in a line of 20 plus tiv's when the lights went red, we stopped. In the opposite direction coming head-on was another line of 20 plus tiv's.I could not stop laughing, Not sure who was correct.
Answer - you were all wrong, that set of lights in Uppingham wasn't even on the route After watching us leave the pub and then waving to everyone at the top of the hill from Stockerston several miles into the route my wife & daughter returned home (in Uppingham) to be confronted by TVRs coming from all directions at the crossroads and a drunk bloke in white trousers shouting "you should've got a Ferrari"!

Sums it up nicely!QBee said:
That crossroads was one of a couple of missing instructions from the written version
That crossroads wasn't in the notes because it wasn't on the route! I thought the notes were accurate but I'll check again for future reference. If you can remember any specific points which need changing let me know QBee said:
Very good adherence to village speed limits. Well done chaps.
