Welcome to the first of the TVR “Noughties" Weekends!

What is the Noughties weekend?

The TVR Noughties (“00") weekend (and no, that is not the TVR naughty weekend!) is a weekend to
bring together and celebrate all the marks of TVRs that were designed and made in the last
decade of the Wheeler era - mostly 1999-2006.

It takes place in the beautiful and centrally located Wroxall Abbey Estate in Warwickshire and
features an entire weekend of TVR (and non-TVR) events, run-outs and a special visit down to
Topcats Racing (just outside of Aylesbury) for a day of TVR related fun.

And the weekend is not just for TVR enthusiasts! For those of us just interested in a great weekend
out - Wroxall Abbey features a fantastic spa, sauna and health club where you can just
relax away the entire weekend with massages, walks, swimming or just plain sleeping around -
whatever you like!

Where is the event based?

The event will be based at Wroxall Abbey Estate in Warwickshire.

Wroxall Abbey Hotel & Estate
Birmingham Road
Wroxall
Warwickshire, CV35 7NB
http://www.wroxall.com

You will have the run of a 27 acre estate with spa, tennis, pools and sports club facilities.

There are massages, beauty treatments and heated pools to help you relax or just
idle the weekend away.

A sample video of the hotel can be found here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCVQmm_coO8

What is happening during the weekend?

Here is a quick summary of the planned events for the weekend. The exact details are still
being finalised, but will be updated as soon as they are.

Arrival Friday 23rd Sept & Check-in
Arriving on the Friday afternoon or evening, you will be free to check-in and decide on what you
want to do before dinner. If enough people arrive early and the weather is good, then there will
be the opportunity for a run-out before dinner around the backroads of Warwickshire on a special
route prepared by the hotel with cars in mind.

Dinner will start at about 1930-2000 and will comprise of a BBQ on the terrace with dessert.

After dinner, much talking and (moderate - of course!) drinks consumption will take place.

Saturday 24th Sept
There are two main strands of events that will be running on the Saturday. The first is for those who
are more petrolhead orientated and like to see power machines at play, whilst the second is for those
who prefer a more sedate day out.

Event track 1
At about 0930-0945 there will be a run-out down to Topcats Racing just outside of Aylesbury for a specially
reserved day out where the focus will be on TVRs, Marcoses, Racing cars and other assorted exotica. Ramps
will be available throughout the day for inspections as will food, coffee, detailers, various trader stalls and
a dyno-ramp (TBC). There will also be various unique TVRs on display and other items yet to be confirmed.

Various technical talks on engines and racing is also being lined up including: -
  • Engine conversions to LS (detailed walkthrough)
  • Racing talks
  • ...and others!
Topcat specialists will be on hand all day to offer advice or inspections as needed.

A concourse event will also be run through out the day with prizes going to 3 of the best cars on the day.

The event will run till about 1600 or so, then we will do a lazy run back to Wroxall for the evening event.

Event track 2
For those not interested in cars or who just want a nice relaxing day, then all the facilities at Wroxall will be
available for your use. See here for more information.

http://www.wroxall.com/spa-club/

There will be other events available, but these are still being arranged, so please expect an update nearer
the time.

Evening
Once everyone is back from the day, then we will have a special dinner at about 2000 with a charity
auction and dance afterwards.

Sunday 25th Sept
The schedule for Sunday is still being arranged.

How much does it cost?

The cost for the event is as follows:-

  • Friday night - £85 B&B single occupancy or £95 B&B double occupancy + £20 pp for the BBQ dinner
  • Saturday night - £114 DBB single occupancy or £152 DBB double occupancy (includes dinner & dance)
  • Sunday night - £85 B&B single occupancy or £95 B&B double occupancy (for those wanting to stay an extra night)
For the Topcats event there will be a £5 pp entry fee for non-TVRCC members and a voluntary contribution for
members the proceeds which will go to charity.

Who can come?

Anyone! While the event is focusing primarily on TVRs of the 1999+, anyone is welcome to come - TVR or not, club
member or not!

Non-TVR Club members will be asked to make a £5 pp contribution to the Topcats event, but the proceeds will all
be going to charity.

So, how do I join up?

To join us for this great weekend out, all you need to do is contact Wroxall Abbey on 01926 484470 and
quote reference number 10E1Y8. We have a fixed number of rooms booked for the event, so book fast!

Hi Jeff

I'll calculate the cost over the weekend, then suggest you just turn up and pay me or Wroxall on the days.

Hi folks

Looking into seeing which specialists/expertise I can get in that are interested in showing on the day.

Have a few I'm looking at so far...
- Brendan @ Concept Performance - Carbon Fibre/heavy customisation work - Confirmed
- F1 exhaust specialist (proper custom exhaust systems - doing a fantastic job on my car) - TBC
- LS Engine specialist - Confirmed
- Meta-alarm specialists - Confirmed (sort of)
- Trimmer - Working on this

Any other areas of TVR specialisation people would like to see?

Thanks!

Sure. Just ring the hotel and say you want to stay for a single night. Not really talked with them about it, but don't think it would be an
issue.

I've been asked to clarify the rules for coming to the Topcats event.

You do not need to book the hotel to come to the Topcats event. You can just turn up.

So, just been to the BBWF event last weekend - which would use the same basic format as the 00s event
and it was very enjoyable.

The Wroxhall hotel was great! There were a few minor issues during the weekend, but should be able to
sort those out for our event.

Topcats day out was very enjoyable, even with no traders attending. Given what happen at the Griff Growl,
I think it is only worth bringing a few very focused specialists in, so I've changed tack on that.

If you want a comparison for the BBWF, please see the following vids. They show the hotel, the Topcats event &
what happened. It is a good guide for ours.

Hi folks,

Any preferences for what to do on Sunday?

I've spoken to a few people to kick around options and suggestions were...

  • Nothing as people may want to leave early, so just hang around and chat or leave as wanted
  • Do a drive out somewhere around the area and have lunch, then go home
  • Visit either the British Motor Museum or Coventry Car museum
  • Something else - open to ideas
Let me know your thoughts? biggrin

Thanks!

Just to clarify again as I noticed I had not correctly edited the event info...

ANYONE CAN COME TO THE TOPCATS EVENT ON SATURDAY!

It is essentially an open-day!

Hi folks

I've done some mugs to mark the event. The cost is about £6 each for a full varnished covered design on a solid mug. Please let me know if you want one. I have a limited number, but can order more if need to.

Thanks!
