The script has been leaked and if you're interested this is a synopsis:

But be warned, if you're a fan-boy and this is the outline script its a serious spoiler!

Earth. Year 2058.

Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These "Alien Gods" also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God's home-world, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their "children", their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence.

As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one crew member of the Prometheus it's not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the "bio-source code" to Terraforming, a technology at the origin of all Gods' power, that could make humans equal to the gods. The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to "clean up" worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What's left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed planet.

On their trail a survivor Alien God in very familiar ship with one ultimate mission.

Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth.

I don't know what he person posting the 'leaked script', Annalee Newitz, problem is with this - if it is indeed the script - I think its about as good as I would have hoped it would be.

Entitled: 'If this is actually the real plot for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, just shoot us now' she(?) says:

"A tipster has forwarded us what somebody close to the production on Prometheus claims is the plot outline to Ridley Scott's long-awaited prequel to Alien. We're fairly dubious that this is the actual plot. And not only are we skeptical about the authenticity of this outline, but we're really hoping that our skepticism is justified. Because if this is the real plot outline to the flick . . . well, abandon all hope. It's like an awful cross between Beneath the Planet of the Apes and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock."

I don't agree with that at all - indeed the plot outlined, if done properly by Ridley, sounds both fresh and eerie with plenty of room for shocks along the way. Also, H.R.Giger is on-board and contrary to previous rumours not just in an advisory capacity but actually making some of the Creature(s) and set design.

[geek mode] My only gripe is that its set in the year 2058 which is way too soon for some of the stuff mentioned in the script to be happening. Sadly, in order to fit in with the time-line in the original Alien film, it has to be set around that time. [/geek mode]

I believe Ridley is (or at least was) making 2 Prometheus films so if thats the case I expect this first one to leave some questions un-answered.

So, the humans running off with the secret, and a lone Alien God chasing them, doesnt remind you of the aliens in the film AvP Requiem, when the aliens are all over a town, and a lone predator goes after them, to 'clean' up the mess??
Well OK but I think thats a bit of a tenuous link...

In AvP thats the whole of the story really whereas in the (supposed) script I posted thats really the end game of the film (I assume) - there's a lot going on before that.

Just found this tit-bit on the Hollywood Reporter site:

"Scott has also confirmed that the ship in the movie is called Prometheus, and that it is sent from Earth on a mission by the sort of all-powerful corporation that were such a big force in the original Alien movies. [The Hollywood Reporter]"

Again - this doesn't conflict with the leaked script, in fact it kinda dovetails in with it.

20th Century Fox has released an official synopsis for Ridley Scott's de facto Alien prequel:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.

### Update ###

A 20th Century Fox representative told the website io9 that the synopsis which hit the net yesterday is not real at all.

Thats the one I posted on page 1 of this thread - Funnily enough I'm not convinced. scratchchin

CGI or practical?
Practical. The set for this is MASSIVE, real proper movie making!
Yep - I've just heard that from another source now. Apparently the Space Jockey set is behind the Bond set and is indeed massive. The tunnel (pictured below?) leads to the 200ft SJ set I'm told.

Anyway - here's that and some other set pictures:

A piece of distinctly H.R. Gigeresque spaceship is delivered to the set of Prometheus which has now moved to Iceland as well.

The cast list for this is quite sparkling as well

Noomi Rapace
Michael Fassbender
Charlize Theron
Idris Elba
Sean Harris
Kate Dickins
Guy Pearce
Logan Marshall-Green
Ben Foster
Rafe Spall
Benedict Wong
Emun Elliot

Fassbender plays the Android in this one.

Here's another prop on-set in Iceland:

Looks like the landing foot of a Spaceship and that they'll CGI the rest of the craft.

Seems quite a few people are expressing disappointment at it likely to be rated PG-13, I will be too, it has to be scary, it needs to be a bit gory
Yeah, I agree 100%.

I saw the interview with Ridley at Comic Con where he said that if he didn't scare the bejeezus out of us then he'll have failed - or words to that effect.

Sorry, but with today's sophisticated audiences you can't scare an adult with a PG-13. Perhaps they'll be 2 versions of this film.
