Independence Day 2
Discussion
I can't make up my mind whether this will turn out to be awesome or make the top ten worst films list.

I heard he was not in the sequels because he wanted $50 million, and the studio told him to bugger off.
Phew, I liked the look of the Earth one hes just done until I read it had his son in.TheTurbonator said:
I've not seen any other films with Jaden Smith in, but I thought he was pretty good in 'The Pursuit of Happyness'. Okay he didn't blow me away but at no point did I think he was bad or thought he was wrong for the part. In fact I'd even say that the 'real' father-son relationship, made the film more believable.
That kind of proves my point.1. Was he the best actor for the part, hell, did they even audition anyone else?
2. You have to suspend your disbelief to get past Will Smith, but to then have his actual son in the film as well?

We must have watched a different film then, in both this and the Karate Kid I thought he was terrible. He always just seems to play Will Smiths son playing Will Smiths son if that makes sense. He acts exactly how I'd expect Will Smiths son playing at being an actor would act which takes me out of the film far too often. The fact that I know he is their BECAUSE he is Will Smiths son and not because of any great acting talent only compounds the problem.I wouldn't have expected an Oscar winner, but something other than MORE! aliens and BIGGER! aliens would've been good.
This one just looks like they had a script/budget meeting, had nothing for the script so decided to throw the whole budget at the CGI.
CGI is cool but when used in moderation. From what I've seen of this so far, it looks ridiculous.
It's the cinematic equivalent of the car Homer designed.

This is going to sound like a gloat but I promise it isn't.
Can I ask what it is those of you that have seen it were actually expecting?
I'd made my mind up from seeing a couple of clips that it was going to be pants, and from the reviews on here so far, even from those with low expectations, it's an absolute crock of ste.
I'm just wondering if people saw the previews and thought "it looks ok, I'll enjoy that" or was it more a case of "those clips don't look great but I'll go anyway and hope it's better than that"?
