Tennant is back! woohoo

...sadly Rose is too, still, you can't have everything.

Apparently John Hurt is in it as well.

I like Tom Baker, but not the new Who.
Whats not to like.

Funny, loveable, not overly handsome in a ridiculous hollywood way, and plays it with whimsy.

Best Doc since the reserection.

Ask nicely...biggrin Not strictly a continuity...the camera is reflected in his helmet.

Hey, come on, how many frames did you have to flick through to find that? hehe

Is there a thread for the new series, or is this it?
Well I suppose as this threads topic (the 50th anniversary special) is a part of this series then to save confusion....

BTW I'm sure that there is. Thread for this season already in existence as tonights episode is merely the first episode of the 2nd part of this series. Dr Who did a very American this time...It had a mid-season break.

I liked it tonight, a Moffat favourite of making the bad thing from something normal. It was very obviously an empty coffee cup that Clara ran round with though hehe . Oh and in her book with the list of ages updated every year, no number 23 scratchchin
And a mystery lady in a shop gave her the doctors telephone number
Amy Pond?
More likely to be River Song.
More likely to be neither, just a plot contrivence.

scratchchin

Although we know Rose is returning...

They did that bring Rose back in the Donna Noble story, surely they wouldn't do that again??
The BBC have already confirmed that she and DT are returning for the 50th anniversary special.

Look, I love it...but it's a kids program ffs. Scientific exactitude and logistical issues aren't meant be uppermost in a 13 year olds brain when he/she is watching.

They have homework for that kinda stuff.

The read through has taken place today:

Before anyone asks, the text on the front of the scripts says:

Doctor Who

50th Anniversary special.

By Steven Moffat

Blue Amends

1/4/13

I would doubt, however, that "Blue Amends" is the title
I've just had a nerdgasm.
Quick take these...

... that nerd-goo gets everywhere.

Dire effects. That 'moped' zipping backwards and forwards was a throwback to how effects were done 20 years ago. Truly crap.

Obvious question...how coud Clara could fly it between asteroids without ever having had a lesson? Getting a tad pissed off with the overuse of the Sonic Screwdriver as well. Its capability to open impossible doors was just lazy scripting. Indeed, it was then used to hold open the door and fight the aliens....

Come on Moffat, up your game.

What she said!
All thats ever said is kinda "yes, yes, bigger on the inside etc..." The pseudo-science behind that is never articulated.

IIRC it has something to do with the inside of the Tardis being in another dimension to the outside but this doesn't stack up with current scientific/quantum theory (all additional dinensions are sooooo small and "curled up" that they are imposible to ever see let alone enter) so they don't try to get decriptive about how it actually works. Suffice to say "it is, just deal with it".

With the Doctor dropping the "granddaughter" bomb you'd have expected Clara to say "so you're married then?" before agreeing to go galavanting round the universe with him no?

Well thats what they always say to me before agreeing to get in the car hehe

Yep.

I liked it. Thought the Spaceship graphic was poor but overall it was certainly better than last weeks offering.

Season finale is apparently called 'The name of The Doctor' and Moffat promises a big secret WILL be revealed.

But I'll bet it's not that one! biggrin

Shirley thats the whole idea of Dr Who. hehe

I remember watching the Daleks through a keyhole into the living room from the hallway I was soooooo scared. But it made me a fan for life. biggrin

I'd draw the line at letting her watch Rolf Harris though.

Want to hear an inriguing and very 'spoilery' rumour concerning the 50th anniversary special...?

...apparently John Hurt will be playing 'The Doctor' but incredibly he'll be playing the 9th Doctor...yes The 9th Doctor!

He'll be the one who fought The Time Wars against the Daleks.

This will bump Eccleston, Tennant and Smith up the 10th, 11th and 12th incarnations of the Doctor respectively.

It's only a rumour but it wouldn't surprise me actually.
