Did anybody watch this tonight when the copper came up behind the Volvo on the slip road onto the dual carriageway?

The Volvo moved across at the end of the slip road kind of blocking the police car as they entered the dual carraigeway. The copper went straight into the outside lane of the dual carriageway. I do think these two lane slip roads can lead to problems if people enter the main road in the outside slip road lane alongside another car.

Did the copper drive a little too fast and therefore it appeared aggressive to another road user? This was an unmarked BMW 5 series...

Anybody else have an opinion? Could it be argued the other bloke was being defensive? The copper seemed to think he could drive how he liked because he'd been on a 4 week training course.

I'm glad to see it's not just me thinking the copper isn't blame free. What would have happened if a car was coming down the dual carriageway preventing him squeezing in at that speed? Or is it ok if he's a copper?

The other driver who happened to be a cop did exactly what I would do in that situation - move into a clear lane 2
So you'd go tanking down the slip road a fair bit faster than other vehicles? Leaves your option a bit limited if the outside lane isn't free for you to move into.

If the overtake is on and not be entering the main dual etc as anyone else and causing conflict = yes
Would good obs and planning be needed = yes

Have you passed an advanced test?
A truly advanced driver wouldn't even bother overtaking in such a situation because he would consider how other drivers could perceive his actions and potentially react.
