Are the hoffmans the most useless miners ever ? They must be well paid for the programme to cover the costs of plant hire and travel , and if they spent as much time digging as they do patting each other on the back and praying maybe they might turn a profit .
I know it's only a tv show , but it's one I can't stop watching , waiting to see what this weeks disaster will be !

That Dave guy appears to be the only one with anything about him , I'm guessing the fee the others get compensates them enough to be cast as idiots , Dave for his own show on how to succeed in gold mining ?

Tony Beets is the best character ... no bullst and nothing is ever good enough

the Hoffman lot just make me crack up, useless useless miners.

I like Porcupine site the best though, amazed at how deep they went into the glory hole!
Isn't he just typical Dutch , I know half a dozen Hollanders as the French call them and they are all very direct , you know exactly where you stand with them . He does know what he's doing though and I'm guessing he really is only there for the money .
Hoffmans on the other hand , gold or diamonds ? What next , salt ?

Did anyone watch the last of the series last night ?
Hoffmans proud as punch with the haul of diamonds only to be told they are worth around 2k , along with the less than 3k in gold , that's dollars as well .
150 days in the jungle , I hope discovery is paying them well !

That is excellent .
I'm watching the re run of the new gold rush now , Todd Hoffman must be the worlds best paid clown , but it is tv and I've a sneaking suspicion he may make something this series , Parker must be spending to much time with the bad tempered Dutch guy as his fuse is almost as short now .
The 2 guys that Dave now works with know the game .
It's got me hooked already , and the missus hates it , surely that's a bonus !

EFA
That's the one , although I've just watched the part where he starts kicking the dredge apart and then turns up at he other mine , no one in the world is as bad tempered as he is , must work as he's a very wealthy man apparently .

Tony Beets is a star IMO, yes he's a 'bit lively' but invariably he's talking sense, he's the Anti-Todd ha ha.

I only watch half of it last night, 2 hours was a bit much for my beloved so I'll finish it tonight, it's wonderful nonsense - as for the 'winners' this year. Dave Turin and the Dodge Brothers has to be as close as a dreamteam it's possible to get on Gold Rush, I expect nothing but well thought out decisions based on years of experience, little or no clashes due to maturity and jobs assignment based on the best skill set followed by buckets of gold - frankly I've no idea why they're on it - where the drama going to come from - 3 level headed blokes who know what they're doing. (I'm almost certain now I've written that, that they spent the second half of last nights show fighting each other and crashing big Tonka toys into expensive bits of kit).

Can't wait to see what Tony does with that ship ha ha.
Just as well it's made of steel , if it was wooden he'd probably burn it to the ground to save time then stand and swear at someone for not re incarnating it .

Todd's not the best negotiator in the world is he ? 20 per cent with a guaranteed minimum payout ! It should make good tv

Is it just me or are all of the Hoffman crews amazing game changing ideas just basic common sense ? They must be pretty good actors by now as I don't think anyone could survive in that industry by being as stupid as they appear to be .

I've only ever seen Tony beets show any sign of wealth , nice winter house that Parker visited once . Everyone else lives in a dream and lives like a posh tramp on the tv , it's the same on all of the other gold programmes , work your arse off for a possible half decent wage and live a bit rough for a few months just in case you strike it lucky , tv probably pays more than gold ?

I've got my fingers crossed that the walking nervous breakdown that is Emily Riedel will finally be drowned. She is hands-down the most annoying human being on the face of the planet.
You would though wouldn't you?

As long as she was wearing the diving mask to stop the inevitable whinging ! If she mined a gazillion dollars worth of gold she would still find something to moan about
That said , any offspring of Steve riedel and ex partner of the other nut zeke is never gonna be stable .
Defo would though , may not brag about it afterwards !

Hoffman crew are the only people in history to wear out the top of a tin hat , if they spent the same amount of time mining as they do knocking their hats together and praying they'd be gazillionares !

The spoiler at the end last night showed Rick mining a claim for Parker by himself I seem to remember . Maybe Parkers put the money up for another site but put it in ricks name ?

It also showed a very fat , dejected and lonely Todd sat at a fire by himself . It can't go downhill that quickly for the sake of the series , there must be something good coming from the hoffmans ?

Why the subtitles when Betts speaks?

Todd, didn't take long for him to come up with the....weve got to beat Parker.

Parker, lots of gold= fanny magnet.

Best watched on "tape" with finger on ff button.
Possibly for the American viewers ? the subtitles are mainly stars when he speaks !

Just a few of Todd's recent postings:

I'm a survivalist.

I'm a conservative.

I love Jesus.

All the gold in the world will not save Todd Hoffman when I cross over from this world. I will be covered in the blood of Jesus Christ and will rest in the assurance of the promises made in the bible.

All the saints that have gone before us are watching us during our short time.
hes obviously on day release when discovery are filming gold rush , keep your eyes peeled for a white van in the background .
But seriously , as I said ages ago , he and his crew must be well paid per episode to stand up and make themselves a laughing stock .

Why doesn't he just pay someone to move the dredge for him, he must have spent £500k by now in barges and work.
Two possibilities,
It wouldn't be very good tv , or maybe no private contractor in their right mind would work for him ?
The way he does business there either wouldn't be any money in it or you wouldn't get paid properly , I've dealt with a couple of Dutch people in the past in they are so tight they squeak when they walk .

I used to like this programme but it's now degenerated into typical discovery funded rubbish to add drama . The driver could have easily used the machine to clear the bars , either by pushing the waste or lifting the bars with the bucket after disconnecting the ram .
Tony , well who would have thought he and his number one man gene wouldn't even bother with an hours groundwork to check the height of the bridge , even then if it was that close they could have let the tyres down to gain clearence and re inflated them at the other side , it's not like they were ever going to cross the bridge at speed !
Todds crew , no wages , really ? I wouldn't work in a sthole for a known moron who has a track record of epic failure and look like a fool on tv without at least negotiating some form of monthly payment from discovery .
In my opinion it's gone the , American chopper or fast and loud , fake drama route .
I did see the Todd vs Dave trailer a few weeks ago , I'd guess it's gonna be on the last of the series , maybe after Todd yet again tempts Dave back with the promise of untold wealth and probably a 90% share of the profits only for it to go tits up yet again .

Forgot to mention it earlier, but has anyone caught "Gold Diggers" on NatGeo?

S1e1 was shown yesterday afternoon, seems much more grounded in reality than the recent gold rush seasons - one guy is working a claim with his family, and they really are banking on a decent season otherwise they're all completely fked...
Is this the programme that features a big bloke who laughs a lot , a few crews who when something breaks just sort the problem out with a shrug of their shoulders , and the guy who works with his rather attractive daughters ? I remember it from a while ago if it's the one ? It was just people getting on with it instead of saying prayers and knocking tin hats together or bullying their crew .

Surely Todd will give up to hand over to his son hunter , promote the kids tv career to rival parkers next season , maybe drag another tv season out of it then they'll all diversify into the white water type dredging to keep it mildly interesting to the tv companies ? Then Dave Turin will come back with his own crew and show them how to mine gold but it will be so boring the series will fold ?
