I think the letters HBO will probably mean it's done well, film to TV series remakes Hannibal and Fargo are/were brilliant and set the benchmarks and HBO had nothing to do with them 
Even if it might have a little too much lens flare.

Films to series don't have a great record, there are notable exceptions, there is a lot of so-so stuff...and some really horrible dire stuff.
Westworld is an iconic film, it's a genuine classic and I don't mind it's dated feel. I can watch it over and over and shall watch it again when it is on the box because it is that good. Classics transcend their genre and time periods. The unstoppable, unfeeling enemy became a trope and influenced later films like the Terminator. But the arc was perfect, it had a beginning a middle an and end. How will this be adapted?
The fact it is HBO and will have ten episodes is good news. Means it won't be watered down or stretched out.
HBO have a lot of shows finishing this year, they need good new stuff to sit alongside Game of Thrones.
