I have no doubt that there has been a thread on this already but having just watched the film this week I was keen for some insight on what others thought of the film. I think I was guilty of expecting too much as it took a long time to get round to viewing, and was surprised to find it in my opinion cheesy, unrealistic and quite short.

Is this a unanimous feeling or are there still die hard fans of the film?

As I suspected then it seems more a special effects orientated film. Thanks for the replies.

I think in terms of storyline and build up, Apollo 13 did a very good job. However that was based on a true story which perhaps meant I related to it a lot better, as I love factual things.

I'm not sure how an astronaut vanishing into his death in deep space was able to come up with the one liner's he did with a grimace on his face. This was one of many issues I had with the film. It just was not as would be expected if it were to be translated into a realistic scenario.
