Yes I know...another one....

But, I was wondering was I imagining a fat bloke presenting it prior to James May back when this format was started in 2002/3 ish??

No you were not imagining it. The first series had Jason Dawe alongside Hammond and Clarkson

Was that the fool that claimed GTR brake discs exploded due to the weight of the car.

Yup, Jason Dawe... the one that like to write on windscreens with a chalk pen.

Last time I saw him on tele, he was doing a used car program with Penny Mallory.

In a very similar vein I vaguely remember Clarkson quitting the original Top Gear and being replaced by someone else. Clarkson Lite is how I remember it.
Am I slipping into early senility or can someone confirm it?

Cheers

Wasn't he terrible but by far the worst was Jon Bentley. God, he was bad on the gadget Show but even worse on TG.

Can't recall Brendan Coogan presenting the show but just looked on wikipedia and he's Steve Coogan's brother.

Was Jon Bentley not also a producer on old Top Gear, with just occasional presenting stints?
